Lin Mian picked up her bag, glanced in the mirror one last time before leaving her room. She went downstairs. A steaming plate of food was waiting for her on the table. She sat down a silly smile on her face as she ate her breakfast.
The system looked at its glutinous host.
'By the way system who is the male lead of this world?'
She asked as she took another mouthful of food. Her cheeks bulging like a greedy hamster.
"I don't know"
The system responded.
She paused mid-chew.
'What? then how am I supposed to save this world?'
"Don't worry host youre not the female lead, you're just a canon fodder."
The system said calmly.
"…"
She has had enough of this lousy system. Why couldnt it tell her all of this before? Did the system purposely wait until now to sour her mood and ruin her breakfast?
"So I am just a passerby? A nobody?"
she asked
"Exactly host you're so smart."
Black lines appeared on her forehead, she quickly guzzled down her food, washed her plate and left the house.
Lin Mian walked up to the bus stop and waited. She suddenly felt a tap on her shoulder, she turned around to find a girl smiling at her.
"Good morning Mian"
She was Mian's friend, Si Qian.
"Good morning Qian"
Lin mian responded, her earlier anger forgotten as she looked into the eyes of this pretty girl.
The system sensing the sudden change in the mood.
cough cough
She ignored the system.
"Mian do you know, today we will have a new student joining us?"
Si Qian said as they both got onto the bus.
"Really? "
"Mhm and I heard he's so handsome "
Si Qian blushed as she talked about the new student.
"How do you know?"
Lin Mian asked narrowing her eyes suspiciously
"A little birdy told me."
Qian mumbled avoiding her gaze.
The bus stopped, and they got off near the school. the two of them walking side by side.
"Lin Mian!"
Someone called out, she turned around to find Mu Su walking towards them. She was also one of Lin Mian's close friend. She was the youngest of the three and called Little Su. she had chubby cheeks and a gummy smile.
"Good morning Little Su!"
They both said simultaneously. Then the pair of three walked towards their classroom together.
Lin Mian entered the class with her friends. Most of the students had arrived and were chatting with their friends.
"Good morning monitor."
Mian said to Lu Gong, their class monitor who was currently leaning against the board as he looked at the students chattering with a frown.
Lu Gong greeted her back. Lin Mian briefly glanced at his pitiful face before walking towards her seat.
Suddenly the chatter died down and everyone turned to look towards the door as someone entered. It was the new student, and just like Si Qian had said, he was really handsome. Long legs and a lean yet muscular built. Chiseled jaw and a pair of deep black eyes. They were so dark that one could drown in them.
He glanced around the classroom as he entered. his bag carelessly slung over his shoulder.
"Hes the male lead right, I can practically see the protagonist halo"
Lin Mian said to the system.
"Yes he is."
The system responded,
"How do you know he is?" she asked, earlier the system had said that it didn't know.
"I just found out."
Forget it she wasn't going to get a good answer from this trashy system anyway.
The system who got trashed for no reason: "…"
Lu Gong seeing that everyone was now quite, walked up to the new student.
"Hello my name is Lu Gong, and I am the class monitor"
He said to the male lead extending a gracious smile.
"I am Shi Liang"
The new student responded, his tone flat as he looked at Lu Gong.
Lu gong laughed awkwardly, scratching the back of his head. In the silence the sound of his laugh was particularly loud. Lu gong hemmed and hawed for a day before he was saved by the sound of the bell ringing. Shi Liang walked towards an empty seat leaving him behind.
