Chapter 69 - Chapter 70

Although the impact force of traveling at twenty-five times the speed of sound was incredibly powerful—and the rising dust astonishingly vast—no matter how massive the cloud was, it would eventually fall back to the ground.

By the time Thor flew to the edge of the dust cloud, the particles had already thinned out. Gravity had pulled most of it down.

Even so, Thor could barely see what was happening.

The red light and the shadow moved too quickly. Before he could make out anything, they shot past him, snatching the Destroyer away. He didn't even manage to react, let alone catch up.

Only now did he finally understand what had happened. All he knew was that within that flash of red light and shadow, there had been a man—nothing more.

Through the thinning dust, Thor saw a figure in a red cloak standing before a huge crater, and at its center lay the once-arrogant Destroyer.

But now, the Destroyer no longer looked proud or imposing. Two fist-sized holes had been punched through its chest, as if it had suffered an unbearable blow.

Judging from his combat experience and the size and spacing of the holes, Thor concluded that they must have been made by the fists of the man in the red cloak.

Thinking back to the earlier flash of light and motion, everything suddenly made sense.

During that high-speed collision, the cloaked man had driven his fists straight through the Destroyer, piercing its body cleanly.

Thor shuddered involuntarily.

That kind of attack was viciously effective. Had he not moved aside, his own chest would now have two holes in it.

Realizing this, Thor's expression instantly darkened.

He had just survived a brush with death.

He and the Destroyer had been standing on the same line of attack. The man's target had clearly been the Destroyer, but even after seeing Thor in the way, he hadn't slowed at all—it meant the man simply didn't care whether Thor lived or died.

He was reckless.

Thor's expression soured as he made that judgment about the stranger.

Just then, the Destroyer moved again. The holes in its chest seemed to affect it not at all. It slowly rose, turned around, and its faceplate suddenly opened. After a resonant hum, a massive beam of energy shot out—straight at the man in the red cloak.

The cloaked man did not dodge. His eyes flashed bright red, and two thin but equally powerful beams shot forward to meet the Destroyer's attack.

Boom!

The beams collided, exploding with dazzling light. The tremendous force produced a violent shockwave.

Within a radius of three meters around the point of impact, sand and gravel were blasted away.

Both the cloaked man and the Destroyer leaned forward as they pushed their beams against each other. The deadlock continued.

A perfect opportunity.

Standing aside, Thor suddenly had an idea.

He swung Mjolnir and released it.

The hammer shot forward and slammed into the Destroyer.

CLANG!

With a deafening metallic impact, Mjolnir struck the Destroyer's head, blasting it backward with tremendous force.

The beam skewed. The stalemate broke.

But instead of looking pleased, the cloaked man's expression froze stiff.

Thor didn't notice this. Calling Mjolnir back into his hand, he muttered to himself, "You almost killed me just now, but we're fighting the same enemy. Don't thank me—I won't be helping you again!"

With that, Thor swung the hammer once more and let it pull him toward the fallen Destroyer, completely ignoring the increasingly rigid expression on the cloaked man's face.

"Ha! You dare claim the head in front of me?"

The red-cloaked man threw out the line coldly. Before Thor could reach the Destroyer, he fired a beam straight at him.

The beam struck Thor instantly, sending him flying more than ten meters. Face-first, he slammed into the ground, dragged across the sand by the force of the beam.

Thor had no idea what had just happened—only that suddenly everything had turned chaotic.

But one thing was certain: Thor was furious. Extremely furious. His handsome face twisted with hostility—and with the dust and sand smeared across it, he looked downright awful.

Bang!

Gripping Mjolnir tightly, Thor twisted his waist and pushed back against the beam. In that instant of resistance, he hurled Mjolnir.

The hammer smashed through the beam bit by bit, climbing against its flow, and slammed into the red-cloaked man's head.

Thor himself charged forward as well.

This time he hadn't swung the hammer, but he used even more power than before. He attacked in pure rage.

Mjolnir closed in on the man's face, just moments away from smashing it apart.

The hammer hadn't slowed, and its force remained immense. The man chose not to take it head-on—he twisted aside, narrowly avoiding the blow.

But Thor had finally reached him. Instead of throwing a punch, he recalled Mjolnir to strike from behind.

The man noticed the hammer and attempted to dodge, but he was too close. He failed to get clear in time. Mjolnir crashed into his shoulder with a heavy thud.

The man was blown off his feet, sent flying more than ten meters before finally hitting the ground.
