Chapter 28 - 27- Underworld fervor

It was time for Magdaran to return to the Underworld. After all, he had been out for weeks without prior notice.

Although he had sent back a message to his peerage stating that he would be out for a few days, they all may still be concerned.

And he was certain that the aftermaths of his fights with Scathach and Rizevim were felt by Sirzechs and Ajuka.

Entire dimensions were destroyed in both the fights, they both would have to be brainless idiots to be this strong and unable to sense energy fluctuations this high.

And, if they knew, he was also certain that the news might have spread.

But apparently, the news did not exactly reach the great king faction, because the two super devils were not kind enough to inform them.

When he teleported back to the underworld,

Across Bael territory, defensive formations embedded deep into the land flared to life. Ancient wards groaned as if under immense strain, magic circles trembling, inscriptions glowing brighter as they attempted to identify a threat that did not exist.

Or rather, one that had already arrived.

He had not announced his arrival or release his aura deliberately.

Rather, he just forgot to suppress the aura he was subconsciously leaking at all times now... He did nothing except exist.

But that alone was enough.

The pressure rolled outward in slow waves, not crushing, but undeniable. Guards stationed throughout the estate stiffened, knees trembling as instincts older than training screamed at them to bow. Some resisted, gritting their teeth, only to be forced down moments later as the weight settled further.

This was not killing intent.

This was just presence.

Magdaran paused just beyond the spatial distortion, exhaling softly as he immediately suppressed his aura. The oppressive pressure receded, enough that those caught beneath it could breathe again.

"…I did not think I was leaking that much aura," he muttered quietly.

The last thing he wanted was to terrify his own people.

"You were actually... The only reason you did not realize that was because you had only met me, and I could withstand that perfectly, albeit, even I have to agree that you are powerful.

Your aura is enough to scare everyone here even if you do not release it." Scathach commented as she walked from behind Magdaran.

He straightened and began walking toward the Bael mansion.

Inside, Lord Bael had felt it.

The old devil's hand froze mid-motion as he rose from his seat, crimson eyes narrowing sharply. The pressure had brushed against him like a tidal wave testing a coastline.

Except, he was not the coastline itself, but just a little turtle getting wrecked by the waves.

His heart skipped.

No.

That couldn't be right.

The soon vanished, but even that single moment... it was enough to scare him.

Lord Bael's breath caught.

"…Impossible," he muttered, already moving.

In the inner halls, Magdaran's mother had been speaking with attendants when the air suddenly grew heavy. Her vision blurred for a brief moment, and she had to steady herself against a pillar.

"What is that?" she whispered, hand pressed against her chest.

Fear rose instinctively, raw and primal.

Before she could say more, the doors at the end of the hall opened.

Magdaran stepped inside.

For a heartbeat, no one moved.

Then his mother gasped.

Her legs nearly buckled beneath her as she stared at her son, eyes wide, pupils shaking as she took in the change. Not a physical one, not something as simple as horns or wings.

This was deeper.

More absolute.

Lord Bael arrived seconds later, halting the instant he saw him.

The silence stretched.

Slowly, carefully, Lord Bael extended his senses.

The confirmation hit him like a hammer.

"…Super Devil," he whispered.

His knees nearly gave out.

Magdaran inclined his head slightly. "Father."

The word grounded him.

Lord Bael took a step forward, then another, disbelief warring violently with instinct.

"When?" he demanded quietly, voice tight. "How?"

Magdaran answered calmly. "Recently. I almost died reaching it."

That single word carried the weight of a catastrophe.

Magdaran's mother finally found her voice. "You… you're injured?"

He turned toward her instantly, the pressure around him softening even further. "I was. I'm sorry if I worried you."

She rushed forward before anyone could stop her, hands gripping his arms, searching for wounds that were no longer there.

"You idiot," she whispered shakily. "Do you have any idea what kind of pressure you're giving off?"

He smiled faintly. "I did not realize it before, I had only met Scathach after breaking through, and she could manage it."

That was when the shock fully set in.

"Oh right, this is Scathach. The Godslayer. My Queen and also my partner...

And Scathach, this is my father, and my mother." He introduced each other.

Lord Bael closed his eyes briefly, then exhaled hard.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, lady Scathach."

"The pleasure is mine. Father-in-law." Scathach smiled. Magdaran knew that what she did was deliberate, the stoic and depressed Queen had changed... and she was developing naughty tendencies.

Being called Father-in-law by a woman nicknamed the Godslayer, was enough to put anyone on edge. But he managed to give a simple nod.

"I think I can rest assured about Magdaran now that he has you to look after him, Lady Scathach." Lady Bael chuckled, she was surprised at everything, but her feeling of pride and happiness over-rode most of her thoughts.

"This changes everything, you becoming a Super Devil." Lord Bael said quietly.

Magdaran nodded. "I know..."

And so did the Underworld.

The news spread faster than official announcements ever could.

A Super Devil had emerged.

Not an ancient monster awakening from sealed slumber.

Not the Old Devil Kings.

But a young Bael.

Within hours, emergency meetings erupted across the Underworld.

Among the Great King faction. This turned practically into a news of celebration.

"A Super Devil aligned with Bael?"

This meant that they finally did not have just political powers, but the raw strength to back it up.

They did not know how it had happened, but were certain that soon, news would arrive in detail, before that, just the presence of a super devil accounted for celebrations.

A few even whispered the unthinkable.

War.

Among the Maou faction, the reaction was far more serious.

Sirzechs Lucifer stood at the edge of a balcony overlooking the Underworld, crimson eyes narrowed.

"So he has returned," he murmured.

Ajuka Beelzebub stood beside him, fingers already moving across a projection of magical data, calculations updating rapidly.

"This is not a gradual rise," Ajuka said. "He didn't just accumulate power. He suddenly broke through. There are high chances he might be over his head right now...

We should probably prepare in case he suddenly attacks us drowned in the pride of his newfound power. "

Sirzechs sighed. "That won't be necessary... I know the kid. But the Great King faction, they can be trouble, some might jump out unexpectedly.

Which means the previous balance is gone."

"Temporarily," Ajuka corrected. "Unless we mishandle this."

Neutral clans watched with interest rather than fear. Opportunities always followed instability.

Some would try to align with Magdaran.

Others would quietly prepare defenses.

None ignored it.

Back in Bael territory, Lord Bael dismissed the servants, leaving only himself, Magdaran, Scathach and his wife.

The room felt heavy, but not hostile.

"You understand," Lord Bael said slowly, "that your existence alone destabilizes the current system."

Magdaran leaned against a pillar casually. "I figured."

His mother frowned. "Casually? This is serious. Very serious."

"It is," he agreed. "That's why I'm not worried."

Both parents stared at him.

"You have a plan," Lord Bael said flatly.

Magdaran smiled slightly. "Several."

The old devil studied his son for a long moment, then nodded once.

"…Then the Maou will meet you soon."

"It is as I expected."

Lord Bael hesitated. "Be careful. Politics can be deadlier than any battlefield."

Magdaran's smile turned sharper. "Good thing I've already killed worse."

"How exactly did this happen? You becoming a Super Devil, I mean." Lord Bael asked with a curious face as his wife beside him nodded.

"It was bad... I did something foolish, and got ambushed by Rizevim and his cronies... I almost died, but when I was close to death, in desperation, I broke through.

Then I killed Rizevim. And destroyed his dimension.

But I was far too injured, so I just teleported to a nearby dimension, and it was Tir na Scath, where Scathach found me lying unconscious. She saved my life there...

Then, more stuff happened, we fell in love, and now, she's my queen, and here we are." Magdaran recounted the entire story with a casual tone, as if he was stating some bedtime story.

"Rizevim? Rizevim Livan Lucifer? You killed him? He's dead?!!" Lord Bael asked in shock.

"What? You were injured that bad? What if someone else found you instead of Scathach, how can you be so reckless?!!!" his mother shouted loudly.

"Ughh well, yeah. Rizevim was weak honestly, you can consider him the trash amongst super devils, I one-shotted him after breaking through.

And mother, sorry for worrying you. But look, if I hadn't done that recklessness, I would not have become a super, nor would I have met my lovely Queen." He explained wryly.

"Your life is more important!" Lady Bael was still not ready to give up.

"Understood. Sorry mom, won't happen again." He sighed as Scathach chuckled beside him.

"How powerful even are you?" Lord Bael asked thoughtfully.

"Easily the strongest devil to ever exist. I am stronger than both Ajuka and Sirzechs." He answered seriously.

"Well doesn't that make this interesting." Lord Bael smirked.

Done with meeting his parents, it was time for Magdaran to visit his peerage members.

When he arrived into the common room of his peerage, the scene was chaotic, with Kuroka opening champagne bottles spraying it everywhere.

"What the hell is happening here..." Magdaran said, shocked at the scene.

"MAG-CHANNNN!!!!" Kuroka shouted and jumped at him hugging him like a Koala.

"I felt your aura, I know you became a super-devil, you lovely monstrosity. I nearly came just feeling your aura.

Finally, I don't need to train anymore, if anyone tries to bully me, I can just throw you in the front." Kuroka said excitedly as she rubbed her face with mine." Kuroka said as she rubbed her face on mine.

"My my, Mag-sama. It would seem you have brought another woman with you. Looks like more stuff happened than just you breaking through.

And she looks very strong too... And you two have already established a relationship, haven't you?" This time, it was Akeno speaking, he gaze on Scathach beside me.

"Yes. This is Scathach. My Queen. And yes, you are correct. We have established a relationship." Magdaran nodded to Akeno, completely ignoring Kuroka's words.

"Anyways, Scathach, you stay here, and get to know each other, I am going for a meeting, I will be back soon." Magdaran excused himself, leaving his peerage to mingle with each other.

He knew that Scathach could manage herself, and also establish her position as the Queen.

The reason for his leaving was that the meeting request had arrived. He had sensed Grayfia arriving with the invitation.

It was an emergency conference.

Sirzechs Lucifer and Ajuka Beelzebub. Counting me, it was a meeting of all three Super Devils.

Magdaran straightened, rolling his shoulders once.

"I'll handle it," he said calmly to Lord Bael.

The meeting chamber beneath Lucifer Castle was sealed the moment Magdaran arrived.

Not locked but sealed in the way only the highest authorities of the Underworld could manage, a space where information itself was discouraged from leaking.

Sirzechs Lucifer stood near the long obsidian table, hands resting lightly on its surface. Ajuka Beelzebub remained seated.

Magdaran stepped in.

The door closed behind him and he took a seat.

For a brief moment, no one spoke.

Sirzechs was the first to break the silence.

"…You really did it," he said quietly.

Magdaran shrugged. "Wasn't planned."

Ajuka adjusted his glasses, eyes never leaving Magdaran. "That is precisely what worries me."

Magdaran moved closer, pulling out a chair and sitting without ceremony. "Let's skip the pleasantries. You didn't call me here to congratulate me."

Sirzechs smiled faintly. "Straight to the point. Very Magdaran of you."

Ajuka waved a hand, expanding the projection. Lines of influence, faction alignments, and political pressure points bloomed into existence.

"You becoming a Super Devil creates three immediate problems," Ajuka said calmly.

"Only three?" Magdaran asked dryly.

Sirzechs exhaled. "Ajuka."

"First," Ajuka continued, ignoring the interruption, "the balance of power. The Great King faction now possesses a Super Devil. That alone shifts negotiations, alliances, and deterrence models."

"Second," he went on, "the Maou faction no longer holds exclusive top tier authority. That undermines centralized stability."

"And third," Ajuka said, pausing deliberately, "the Great King faction is no longer incentivized to compromise."

Sirzechs crossed his arms. "In simpler terms, this puts us dangerously close to internal division. And if things escalate, a civil war."

The word lingered in the air.

Magdaran leaned back, hands resting behind his head.

"Huh," he said. "You're faster than I expected."

Sirzechs blinked. "You… already considered this?"

"Of course," Magdaran replied. "You don't reach Super Devil without understanding what comes next."

Ajuka frowned slightly. "Then you understand why this is a problem."

Magdaran smiled. "I understand why you think it's a problem."

Sirzechs' expression sharpened. "Explain."

Magdaran leaned forward, elbows resting on the table.

"You're assuming the Great King faction remains separate."

Silence.

Ajuka's eyes narrowed. "That is not an assumption. That is reality."

"For now," Magdaran replied.

Sirzechs frowned. "What are you suggesting?"

Magdaran's smile widened just a little.

"Devils exist as one faction."

Ajuka stiffened. Sirzechs stared.

"That would be the ideal scenario, But…That's not how the system works," Sirzechs said slowly.

"It's exactly how it should work," Magdaran countered. "The Great King faction exists because power was fragmented. Because no one trusted centralized authority."

Ajuka folded his arms. "And you believe that distrust will simply vanish?"

"No," Magdaran said. "I believe it can be bought."

Sirzechs raised an eyebrow. "Bought?"

"Benefits," Magdaran continued calmly. "Real ones. Not symbolic seats or hollow assurances."

Ajuka exhaled slowly. "You're proposing a merger."

"Yes."

Sirzechs shook his head. "You make it sound simple."

"It is," Magdaran replied. "Hard, but simple."

Ajuka tapped the table, projections shifting. "If the Great King faction joins the Maou faction, they lose independent leverage."

Magdaran snickered. "Do they?"

Sirzechs glanced at him sharply. "What do you mean?"

"You already hold the Maou authority," Magdaran said. "They hold Great King authority. If they merge under your banner without compensation, that's not unity. That's surrender."

Ajuka frowned. "So what do you suggest?"

Magdaran raised a finger.

"First. Political parity."

Sirzechs stiffened. "Parity with the Maou?"

"Not with the Maou," Magdaran corrected. "With you."

Ajuka's eyes widened slightly.

"You want equal status to the Four Maou?" Ajuka said slowly.

"Yes."

Sirzechs opened his mouth, then closed it again.

"That's… unprecedented," he said.

Magdaran shrugged. "So was me becoming a Super Devil."

Ajuka rubbed his temple. "That alone would fracture negotiations."

"Then add more," Magdaran replied.

Sirzechs narrowed his eyes. "You're not done."

"Clan independence," Magdaran said. "Full autonomy in internal governance for Great King families."

Ajuka inhaled sharply. "That would weaken central authority."

"You already don't govern them," Magdaran replied. "You negotiate with them."

Sirzechs sighed. "And the third?"

Magdaran's eyes gleamed faintly.

"Formal recognition," he said. "A fifth pillar."

Silence crashed down.

Ajuka stared. "You want to be acknowledged as an authority equal to the Maou."

"Yes."

Sirzechs leaned back, running a hand through his hair. "You're asking us to reshape devil society."

Magdaran nodded. "I'm offering to prevent a civil war."

Ajuka closed his eyes briefly, calculations racing.

"…This would need unanimous approval," he said.

"I know," Magdaran replied. "Which is why I'm not asking for an answer now."

Sirzechs looked at him carefully.

"You're confident they'll accept."

"They don't have a better option," Magdaran said calmly. "If they resist, tensions rise. If tensions rise, someone eventually snaps. And when a Super Devil snaps, a lot of devils die.

Here, all three of us can sense each other's auras... you both should have realized that if we fight, you will lose, both of you together barely stand any chance against me who holds conceptual level powers.

The strength of the Great King faction and Maou faction are nearly equal right now."

Sirzechs winced slightly.

Ajuka opened his eyes. "You're leveraging deterrence."

"I'm leveraging reality," Magdaran corrected.

Sirzechs was quiet for a long moment.

Then he smiled, small but genuine.

"…You've grown," he said. "And not just in power."

Magdaran shrugged. "Near death has a way of reorganizing priorities."

Ajuka sighed. "We will need time."

"You'll have it," Magdaran said. "I'm not in a hurry."

Sirzechs straightened. "We'll convene councils. Discuss terms. Negotiate."

Magdaran stood. "Good."

Sirzechs smiled warmly then. "Before you go."

Magdaran paused.

"…Rias has been unbearable since the news broke," Sirzechs said, amusement creeping into his voice. "She's in the human world. Very excited."

Magdaran chuckled. "That explains the headache I felt earlier."

Sirzechs waved him off. "Go. Let us handle the mess you created."

Magdaran smirked. "You make it sound like I didn't do you a favor. Rizevim had always been a pain in ass, and me becoming a super devil elevates the strength of devils greatly."

Ajuka snorted quietly. "We'll decide that later."

Space folded around Magdaran as he prepared to leave.

Just before vanishing, he glanced back.

"Oh," he added casually. "Tell the council this."

Sirzechs raised an eyebrow.

"I don't want a war," Magdaran said. "But I will not kneel to avoid one."

Then he disappeared.

Sirzechs exhaled slowly.

"…We really are in trouble," he muttered.

Ajuka adjusted his glasses. "Yes. This place is warded by me personally to avoid teleportation. And he just ignored that.

He has more than just conceptual level Destruction."

A pause.

"…But perhaps," Ajuka added thoughtfully, "this trouble might finally force the devils to evolve."

Sirzechs smiled faintly.

"And if not," he said, "we'll be negotiating with a Super Devil who smiles while he threatens the entire system.

Anyways, I still believe things will not escalate, because in the end, he is my Brother-in-law."

Ajuka nodded once.

"…Joy."
