Chapter 5 - Personal Justice

Cafeteria, Marine Academy

The buzzed with the sounds of cadets munching on food before their classes.

The food wasn't delicious, but it was edible enough to avoid complaints and provided the necessary nutrients for growth.

Amongst the cadets who couldn't care less about taste was Ramos. The blonde-haired boy was devouring the stale rice and miso soup.

"Do you have to eat like a dog?" Gion asked with disgust evident on her face. "It's not going to run away from you, yeah know. "

Ramos glanced at her without breaking his flow of eating."Gulp. You shouldn't be speaking to me while I'm eating Gulp. It's bad table manners."

"What are you genuinely talking about, you idiot!" She barked at him, "You're literally talking with your mouthful."

Ramos stared at the girl like she had grown two heads, "What are you talking about? My mouth was closed the time we spoke."

"Y-You can't be real ?" She slammed her head on the table, utterly defeated by his foolishness.

"Gion, there's no use arguing with him, all his talent went to his fist not his brain," Doll smirked from across their table.

"Yeah, he sleeps most of our classes and surprisingly is good at answering questions when confronted by our teachers," Sonya added.

"Hina thinks Ramos is a fool...a strong fool." The pink-haired girl complimented.

"Hey! Who are you calling a fool?" He questioned, miso running down his chin.

"Close your mouth when you eat!" Gion smacked him on his head. The force made him ricochet off the table and back kissing the ground."

"Ughh–t-that hurts..."He groaned.

The cadets watching didn't dare to speak or intervene out of fear of the 4 girls and their hatred for Ramos, who they dubbed "Nepo Marine".

Aramaki watched Ramos' theatrics with clear disdain."I don't understand how a fool like you could join the Navy."

Ramos turned his attention to the green-haired boy," The same could be said about you Tree-boy. " He quipped back.

"Mxm, tell me Ramos? Why did you join the Marines?"

Ramos gritted his teeth at the question, "I joined to protect someone dear to me from the Pirates who roam the Blues." He answered. "I hate those who prey on the weak...they're nothing but scum."

"Hah, I can agree with you on that. Pirates are nothing but wild dogs that need to be put down." Aramaki fully heartedly claimed.

"That's a bit extreme Aramki, they're still people and should be penalised fairly," Gion argued.

"Fairly? They should face retribution!" Aramaki slammed his fist on the table.

Everyone was fully focused on the debate.

"Pirates deserve to rot in Impel down like roaches, Gion. That's the only worthy punishment. "

"You're sick in the head Aramaki." Ramos pressed his forehead to the other cadets." I may hate pirates but your way of thinking makes you as scummy as them." He jabbed his chest."

"Oh, then what do you consider justice, Ramos?" Aramaki asked with a smug look.

"Justice is protecting people from the lawbreakers," Ramos answered.

"Pfft." Aramaki dismissed his words." That's surface-level Ramos. True justice is eradicating the world of all Pirates. They chose their paths, so let's put them where they belong...in Impel down, where they can rot."

The silence in the cafeteria was deafening, even the food servers were left speechless at his claim.

Gion, Hina, Doll, and Sonya looked at Aramki with appalled expressions.

"If that's what you believe, then I'll make sure you never get to impose your justice Aramaki. " Ramos pointed his dumb to his own chest. "I'll be the fleet Admiral, and you'll follow my orders, Tree-boy!"

"Tsk, that's delusional. I'll be the next fleet Admiral!" Aramaki pressed his forehead to Ramos's.

The two continued ramming their heads together like idiots.

"That idiot might be our only hope to stop him." Gion sighed, a faint pink blush growing on her cheeks.

Doll noticed it, "Are you blushing Gion?" She teased.

"Wha–No! Why would I be blushing...especially not for that idiot!"

"Sure~"

"Doll, don't act like you weren't staring at him in Navigation class," Sonya revealed.

"Sonya...how dare you?" Doll gritted.

Hina watched her friends argue, " Hina notices everyone is pink for Ramos-kun."

"Don't call him that !" They yelled in harmony.

The next generation of Marines discovers their ideals and sets their goals in an ever-growing world.
