Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 Can I be Clark's godfather?

"I just stuck the double fork into his neck, and after that, I don't know."

At the Smallville Police Department, Peter said to the third Police Officer interrogating him.

He had repeated similar words countless times.

"We checked the supermarket surveillance and also got testimony from people on site. They said you confronted that guy at the time."

The burly White Police Officer slammed the transcript onto the table with a bang.

"Don't try to lie, cowboy, I know you're a restless guy."

Peter leaned forward slightly, "I think I should be acting in self-defense, Officer. I took down that gunman, saved people, and should be respected and commended. Why am I being interrogated like a criminal?"

He already knew that the robber in the supermarket had shattered all cameras during the shooting.

So, he was 100% sure that the supermarket surveillance did not capture any footage of him and Mark.

Additionally, he had already coordinated his testimony with the only witness, Martha.

As for Mark's issue, the system had already provided him with legal adoption papers, so he wasn't afraid of them investigating.

Just as the White Police Officer was rendered speechless by his questions, the interrogation room door was suddenly knocked.

A female Officer stood outside and said to him, "Officer, they're here."

The White Police Officer nodded and quickly walked out of the interrogation room.

A few minutes later, he returned.

"You can go."

He stepped forward and unlocked Peter's handcuffs, warning Peter, "But don't leave the town. We'll talk to you anytime."

"Thank you."

Peter calmly thanked him.

Walking out of the interrogation room, Martha, who was anxiously waiting, immediately came over quickly, holding Mark.

"God! Are you alright?"

"I'm fine."

Peter took Mark from Martha's arms.

Mark, whose cheeks were rosy, seemed to have recovered from the previous "Tyrannosaurus Rex" incident.

Holding his new toy in his hand, he was having a great time playing.

"I'm Jonathan Kent."

The man next to Martha extended his hand to Peter, "Thank you so much, Mr. Patrick."

Martha's husband, Jonathan, sincerely thanked Peter.

He had already learned the whole story from his wife.

Although he was half-believing what his wife said about the baby's eyes shooting lasers that cut the robber in half.

But he was genuinely grateful to Peter for saving his wife and son.

"You're welcome. Actually, I also really like Clark."

Peter shrugged and said.

After a few words, Jonathan invited Peter to his home as a guest.

Peter did not refuse and got into the car with the couple.

Inside the speeding car, Peter slowly clenched his fists, feeling the changes happening in his body.

It seemed that his strength had increased significantly, and his vision and sensory perception had become sharper.

The scenery flashing past the window gradually slowed down and came to a standstill under his gaze.

He stared at the wristband on his left hand.

He had thought that taking down the gunman in the supermarket was due to the adrenaline-fueled bloodlust and explosive power.

But now it seemed it wouldn't be that simple.

Even if his adrenaline surged, he couldn't have so steadily and accurately stabbed the double fork into the opponent's neck.

Was it the wristband that gave him the power?

Just as he was deep in thought, the car drove away from the town center and headed towards Kent Farm.

Tall trees stood on both sides of the road, oaks wrapped in dark, damp bark, each like a silent, solemn Sentinel, or a judging vanguard.

Twenty minutes later.

"We're here."

The car stopped in front of a farm.

Jonathan pushed open the car door and introduced, "This is our farm."

Martha helped Peter take Mark down, "Jonathan's grandfather's generation lived on the farm. He inherited this farm and gave up his college life for it."

"Life always requires choices, doesn't it? At least I gained you and Clark. If I had left the farm, we wouldn't have met."

"You always have your reasons, Jonathan."

Martha suddenly slapped her forehead, "Oh no, I left Clark with Neil and forgot to pick him up."

She handed Mark to Peter, "Sorry, I have to go to Neil's."

Watching his wife leave in a hurry, Jonathan smiled at Peter, "Even after getting married, Martha is still a bit scatterbrained."

"She's very good."

Peter said to Jonathan, "A competent mother."

This was not his flattery; the future Superman didn't go astray, which was thanks to Martha's education.

If Clark had fallen into the hands of a pair of rotten parents, he would probably have become another Homelander.

"Yes, Martha is a good mother and wife."

Jonathan said happily.

Night.

Martha and Jonathan prepared a lavish dinner for Peter.

"So, you don't know who John's mother is?"

(John: The name Peter gave Mark, exactly the same as his previous life's name.)

Putting down her utensils, Martha asked Peter in surprise.

"Yes, I adopted him. I've never been married."

Peter lied without batting an eyelid.

Martha turned her head and looked at Mark playing with Clark on the floor.

She thought of the scene a month ago when she and her husband found Clark on the farm.

"Before, in the supermarket, he…"

Martha hesitated, unsure how to ask the question.

"That's his talent."

Peter took a bite of the beef stew with potatoes and said, "I only recently discovered it. John has an unusual talent; when he's angry, he can unleash incredible power."

Martha nodded, looking at Mark crawling around on the floor, "When I was at the Police station, the Police repeatedly asked me about the situation at the scene. I told them I closed my eyes because I was scared at the time…"

She whispered, "Actually, even if I said it, no one would believe it, right?"

Listening to his wife's words, Jonathan, who was beside her, frowned slightly.

Connecting the spaceship that brought Clark to his farm with the special nature of the two children.

A conjecture suddenly popped into his mind that he himself found absurd.

Could John also have been brought by a spaceship?

Then what is the relationship between John and Clark?

"I hope you can keep this a secret, for John's growth."

Peter's words interrupted Jonathan's contemplation.

"Of course."

Jonathan was stunned for a moment, then nodded repeatedly.

After thanking the couple, Peter walked over to the two infants and picked up Clark, "Actually, I think Clark is more talented."

He took the opportunity to propose to the couple that he wanted to adopt Clark as his godson.

To prevent the future Homelander from being a terrible father, Peter decided to adopt a godson.

In case this kid turned against him, he would still have a godson to back him up.

Hearing Peter say he hoped to become Clark's godfather, the couple exchanged glances.

"Of course, no problem."

Martha immediately said.

For Peter, who saved her life, she felt there was absolutely no problem with him being a godfather.

And Clark, held by Peter, suddenly blurted out an indistinct word to him:

"Daddy!"
