Chapter 108 - CHAPTER 108 — The Girl Who Shares His Destiny

The world was too bright.

Not because of the merging light—

that had already faded.

But because everything around Jason Wu now felt… sharper.

Sound had weight.

Air had texture.

Light carried whispers.

He blinked slowly, steadying his breath.

Meilin stood beside him, one hand still gripping his sleeve, as if afraid letting go would undo everything they just survived.

Jason whispered, "You okay?"

Meilin nodded, though her knees wobbled.

"I… think so. My existence feels like it's finally… settled."

She touched her chest. "My heartbeat… it's real."

Jason smiled weakly.

"Well, mine's still racing. So that's proof we both made it."

Longwu Sword groaned in his mind:

**["Boy, your 'heart racing' isn't proof of anything except that you're predictable."]**

Jason scoffed.

"Predictably handsome."

**["Predictably stupid."]**

"Still counts."

---

### **THE NEW BALANCE**

Lan Yuren was the first to approach.

He circled Jason twice, squinting.

"…You're not going to explode, right? No extra head? No tail? No ancient curse crawling on your spine?"

Jason raised a brow.

"You sound disappointed."

Lan Yuren shrugged. "Just preparing for possibilities."

Wei Qing slapped his arm.

"Stop being rude. They just survived a cosmic merge."

Then she turned to Meilin, expression soft.

"Welcome back… properly."

Meilin bowed politely.

"Thank you… Miss Wei."

Jason blinked.

"Why are you bowing to Wei Qing?"

Meilin tilted her head.

"Because courtesy is natural?"

Wei Qing's eyes sparkled.

"I LIKE her."

Jason facepalmed.

"Great. One more person for her to scold me with."

Meilin gave a tiny smile.

"…That sounds fun."

Jason froze.

"…Did you just… tease me?"

Meilin looked away shyly.

"Maybe."

Longwu Sword cackled like a gremlin.

**["Finally! The girl has humor! This is progress!"]**

---

### **SHADOWS BEGIN TO STIR**

The Curator watched them in silence, head slightly tilted.

Only when everyone steadied themselves did he speak.

"Now that the merge is complete, I must give a warning."

Jason tensed.

"Of course. There's always a warning."

The Curator nodded once.

"The moment your fates aligned, three things happened."

"Three?" Jason muttered.

"Why can't these things ever be just one?"

**First**, the Curator said, "Meilin's existence has stabilized, and her branch has been folded into your root destiny."

Meilin squeezed Jason's sleeve.

Jason covered her hand gently.

**Second,** the Curator continued, "your combined existence has strengthened the Wu destiny. Fate has recalibrated around you two—like twin pillars."

Lan Yuren murmured, "Twin Wu pillars… that sounds terrifying."

Wei Qing added, "Or poetic."

Longwu Sword muttered,

**["Or exhausting."]**

Then the Curator's tone darkened.

**"Third… a new entity felt your merge."**

Silence.

The ground seemed to chill.

Jason straightened.

"Who?"

The Curator's eyes dimmed.

"The one who rewrites fates when they become too strong."

Jason swallowed.

"The Administrator?"

"No," the Curator whispered.

"Someone older."

Jason blinked.

"Older than the Administrator?"

The Curator nodded, slow and grim.

"The Prime Witness."

Wei Qing's breath hitched.

Lan Yuren stepped back.

Even Longwu Sword fell silent for two full seconds—

the longest quiet Jason had ever experienced from him.

Finally:

**["…Oh. Oh no."]**

Jason groaned.

"That's a terrible reaction. Explain."

**["Kid… the Prime Witness is not an enemy. It's… worse."]**

"We don't need worse," Jason hissed.

Longwu sighed.

**["It observes all fate deviations. Records every Wu that ever broke the pattern. It doesn't interfere—until the balance tips."]**

Jason frowned deeply.

"And we tipped it?"

The Curator answered:

"When two versions of the same Wu—

one meant to fade, one meant to rise—

decide to share a destiny…"

He gestured to Jason and Meilin.

"…fate has no choice but to take notice.

And the Witness always watches anomalies."

Meilin's fingers trembled again.

Jason immediately took her hand.

"Relax. I'm here."

Her eyes softened.

"I know. That's why I'm scared… for you."

Jason smirked.

"Please. I'm very hard to kill."

Longwu barked:

**["You nearly died twelve times THIS WEEK."]**

"Details."

---

### **WHAT MEILIN CAN NOW DO**

The Curator suddenly stepped closer—

close enough that Jason instinctively raised Longwu.

"Calm," the Curator said.

"I must show you something."

He waved his hand.

Silver threads appeared behind Meilin—

hundreds, thousands—

but each thread connected to Jason's silhouette.

We Qing gasped.

Lan Yuren nearly fell over.

Jason muttered, "Is that… my fate? That many? Seriously?"

Meilin touched one thread gently.

The moment she did—

it pulsed.

Changed color.

Shifted direction.

Jason jumped.

"WHAT DID YOU JUST DO?!"

Meilin pulled her hand back immediately.

"I-I didn't mean to! It responded to me—"

The Curator nodded.

"As expected.

Meilin now holds the ability to shift, nudge, and adjust Jason's micro-fates."

Jason blinked.

"…Micro-fates?"

"Small future outcomes," the Curator explained.

"A step taken one second later.

A breath held longer.

A danger avoided.

A lucky meeting gained.

A shift in who he encounters.

All the little choices fate normally controls—

she can now influence them."

Jason stared at Meilin.

Meilin stared back.

"Wait," Jason whispered, "so you… can literally make my luck better?"

Meilin looked guilty.

"I… guess?"

Wei Qing squealed.

Lan Yuren groaned.

Jason grabbed Meilin's shoulders dramatically.

"MEILIN. I NEED YOU TO STAY NEXT TO ME FOREVER."

Meilin flushed scarlet.

"J-Jason—!"

Longwu Sword screamed:

**["STOP SCARING THE CHILD AND FOCUS YOU LOVESICK IDIOT!"]**

---

### **THE NEXT THREAT**

The Curator raised a hand.

"Joke if you must, but heed this:

If Meilin uses that power too much, the Witness will act."

Jason froze.

"…Define 'act'."

The Curator's eyes dimmed.

"It will come."

Lan Yuren gulped.

"Come… as in… say hello?"

"No," the Curator said bluntly.

"It does not speak.

It erases."

Silence thickened like tar.

Jason exhaled slowly.

"So we're being hunted again."

Wei Qing whispered, "Jason… what will you do?"

Jason looked at Meilin.

She looked terrified.

But she didn't look away.

Jason squeezed her hand.

"What I always do," he said.

"Be annoying enough that cosmic entities regret noticing me."

Longwu Sword cheered:

**["THAT'S THE SPIRIT!"]**

Jason grinned.

"Besides—"

he tapped Meilin's forehead lightly,

"—we're a team now.

And teams don't run."

Meilin's eyes shimmered.

"…Then we walk together. Whatever comes."

Jason nodded.

"Whatever comes."

---

### **THE CALM BEFORE THE NEXT STORM**

The group left the chamber, returning to the quiet silver hallways of the Pavilion.

Lan Yuren rubbed his head.

"I can't believe we just… added another cosmic threat to our collection."

Wei Qing sighed.

"At least this one listens before killing."

Jason blinked.

"…Does it?"

"Probably not," Wei Qing muttered.

Longwu Sword hummed ominously.

**["Kid. Brace yourself. The sky just got heavier."]**

Jason smirked.

"Good. Let it break."

Meilin looked at him, startled.

"Why would you want that?"

Jason winked.

"So I can break it back."

She laughed softly—

really laughed—

for the first time since she existed.

And somehow, amidst cosmic warnings, ancient watchers, and impossible destinies…

The sound made Jason feel like everything might actually be okay.

For now.
