Caden Lockwood let out a cold snort, raised his thick eyebrows, and lifted his chin slightly, appearing both arrogant and overbearing.
He locked eyes with Logan Shaw, as if they were engaged in a silent battle of wills in their own space.
Neither side was willing to yield, the air around them brimmed with determination, and no one intended to back down.
Evelyn stood motionless in place, turned her head, looked towards Logan, and gave him a grateful smile before stepping back, standing alone by herself.
Her gaze was soft yet weak, with her beautiful large eyes devoid of any brightness. Her rosy lips did not curve into a smile, and she appeared gloomy, melancholy, and wistful.
She looked at Caden, slightly parted her thin lips, and very softly, very softly said, "I was wrong that day. I shouldn't have said those things. I'm very sorry."
After a pause, she continued, "Also, I wish you happiness."
As she spoke, she averted her gaze and took a step forward.
