Eleanor stared at Evelyn, her pretty face clouded with awkward embarrassment. Looking at those who had just joined her in humiliating Evelyn, they all shifted their gazes, unwilling to disgrace themselves in such a setting.
"Evelyn!" Eleanor approached her, "Have you forgotten? Cecilia Lynch's future is still in my hands?"
Evelyn gritted her teeth in hatred, "What else can you do besides threatening me?"
"The fact that I can threaten you is the inherent favor my parents have bestowed upon me since birth!" Eleanor looked down at Evelyn arrogantly, "What about your parents? What can they give you, and what can you offer them?"
Upon hearing this, Evelyn's expression collapsed somewhat, her beautiful eyes filled with deep pain.
She missed her family.
She missed them all the time.
She didn't need much from her parents; she just wanted a simple kinship, and that was enough.
Yet, even such thoughts were extravagant desires.
