Chapter 1 - 1

On the first day of the Month of Flowers, in the Allyn branch of the Song of the Silver Moon League.

Jurisian was wearing the arcana badge with six silver stars, a magic badge with five black circles, and a badge with a silver crescent moon on his chest. He walked into the hall slowly.

"Good morning, Mr. Jurisian." The few middle-rank arcanists who came downstairs greeted Jurisian respectfully the moment they saw him.

Although it was not rare for arcana levels to be higher than magic levels after the Influence Factor came out, senior-rank arcanists were still rare. Level-Five to level-six seemed to be an obstacle that many people couldn't surpass in their entire life. Jurisian had verified the prophecy of the new alchemy with the theoretical explanation of the splitting of spectral lines in a strong magnetic field four months ago. He finally had six silver stars. If it weren't for the fact that his cognitive world was still far from being substantialized, he would've advanced into the sixth circle and become a senior-rank.

Jurisian had always been easy-going when he was not on a mission. He said with a smile, "Good morning. Are you here for today's' Arcana ', too?"

"Yes. The debate about Mr. Oliver's transformation equations has been very heated recently. We can't wait to see the latest explanation and application. Maybe one of us can prove it with an experiment," said the middle-rank arcanist, Bobby, who was the leader of the group. He was a tall and sturdy man with a pair of narrow eyes.

Jurisian chuckled. "Me too, but I'm more worried that I might see Evans' paper on that someday."

Hearing that, many arcanists in the hall suddenly fell silent. The name haunted them like a nightmare. As long as he did not express his opinion on the transformation equations, they did not dare to trust the papers of Mr. Oliver and the other gentlemen. Waiting and fear seemed to have become their habit.

After more than ten seconds, Bobby was back to himself. He was about to answer Jurisian, when he saw that a few magic apprentices who were responsible for reception brought out the journals such as' Arcana 'and' Magic 'and placed them on the counter. So, he changed his mind. "Mr. Jurisian, the papers are here. Please go first."

Seeing that Bobby was standing before the counter, Jurisian shook his head and said jokingly, "Let's follow the order. You can check for Evans' paper for everybody first."

He was about to decline Bobby's offer, but as soon as he said that, the arcanists who were about to buy the journals all stopped where they were.

Their eyes were focused on Bobby's face, as if they were agreeing with Jurisian's suggestion. You should read Lucien Evans' paper first. If so, what is it about?

Bobby, who did not think too much at the beginning, suddenly remembered the "achievements" of the head-crusher and the cranium crusher. Cold sweat was popping up on his forehead. However, the arcanists behind him gave him so much pressure that he still picked up a book of Arcana after a hard choice.

Seeing that his joke seemed to have been magnified in this particular environment, Jurisian stepped forward, ready to stop Bobby and "verify" it himself.

Suddenly, he heard Bobby blurt out, "There's a paper by Mr. Evans!"

His voice was uncontrollably high-pitched, and there was a clear tremor in his voice. The whispers in the hall had all disappeared, as if time had frozen.

"What paper?" Jurisian asked subconsciously.

Bobby took a breath. "The electrodynamics of moving objects and the mass-energy equation. It sounds like a study on the motion theory of electromagnetism. It doesn't sound like a revolutionary achievement."

Relieved, he began to read the first paper of the journal at the reception desk out of curiosity. The other arcanists had their own thoughts, but none of them interrupted him. Their eyes were focused on his head. Jurisian, on the other hand, was deep in thought because the meaning of the title was unclear.

After a while, Bobby's facial muscles began to twist, and sweat dripped down from his forehead. Then, he raised his left hand and pressed his head, as if he were in great pain. His eyes were hazy and confused.

The hall fell into weird silence again. Bobby suddenly turned around, mumbling to himself, only to discover that all the arcanists around, including Jurisian, were at least ten meters away from him in a straight line. There was nobody around him, as if a piece of him had been swallowed by a devil.

"You …?" Bobby asked in confusion.

The arcanists all looked at him weirdly. Jurisian coughed and said, "We saw that you were in great pain earlier, so we wanted to give you a quiet environment to recover. What is the paper about exactly?"

"Oh, you were worried that my cognition would collapse and my head would explode?" Bobby realized what was going on and smiled. "How can that be? Mr. Evans' paper is based on two hypotheses and naturally derives Mr. Oliver's transformation equations. There is nothing subversive about it. "

Jurisian and the rest of them took another three steps back. "What? It's about the explanation of Oliver's transformation? "

"Then why are you pressing your head when you are in so much pain?"

Bobby lowered his head and looked at his feet in embarrassment. "I can understand the derivation of the formulas, but I'm very confused about the descriptions of time, space, mass, and energy. I can't figure them out at all. I almost want to knock my head and see if I can get some inspiration."

Hu. Almost at the same time, their exhalations congregated into a gentle breeze. As it turned out, the guy was thinking hard because he couldn't understand it. They were quite shocked.

Knowing that it was the 'Evans' explanation that they had been looking forward to 'for a long time, the middle-rank and low-rank arcanists of the Song of the Silver Moon League were finally relieved, but none of them dared to read it carefully.

After a while, remembering that Bobby was fine, Jurisian summoned his courage and walked to the counter to read Lucien 'paper.

Time went by slowly. Jurisian's face was more and more solemn. His muscles were tightened, and he gritted his teeth. Cold sweat was popping up on his forehead, and his eyes were full of confusion. He kept mumbling to himself, as if he were talking about space, time, mass, and energy.

Also, the weirdest thing was that uncanny changes seemed to be happening around him, as if the light was brighter.

Seeing Jurisian's behavior, Bobby immediately understood their fear earlier. With magic waves and Acceleration, he dashed into the crowd. The arcanists, on the other hand, all clenched their fists and stared at Jurisian's head in fear.

After a long time, Jurisian suddenly 'screamed'. The tense arcanists immediately retreated in a hurry. The hall was in a mess.

When they retreated further away and were prepared to see a headless body, they discovered that Jurisian was standing there in high spirits with a smile on his face.

"Mr. Jurisian, are you alright?" Bobby summoned his courage and asked.

Jurisian burst into laughter, his voice full of delight. "Although the paper is not perfect, it has greatly shocked me and resolved some of the problems that have bothered me for a long time. Therefore, my cognitive world was half substantialized just now!"

With his spiritual power and his control over magic, it meant that he was about to become a sixth-circle sorcerer.

"Really? Then congratulations on becoming a senior-rank sorcerer in advance. But, Mr. Jurisian, why did you scream? You made us think your head was going to explode … "Bobby said honestly.

Jurisian chuckled. "I'm very happy, so I want you to share my happiness."

Witnessing Jurisian break the greatest obstacle to the senior rank with their own eyes, the middle-rank arcanists in the hall had no time to condemn his prank but crowded to the counter to buy the journal 'Arcana', hoping that similar 'miracles' could happen to them.

After a long time, only two to three of the dozens of middle-rank arcanists were deep in thought, as if they had learned something, but they were also confused. The rest of them were just like Bobby. They could understand the deduction, but they couldn't understand the specific meaning behind it.

However, they all sensed that the paper seemed to have overthrown President Douglas' motion system. Their cognitive world that was based on the theory was shaking because of it. Thankfully, Lucien spent a lot of effort in the end of the paper to describe that the previous motion system was a low-speed approximation of the theory. With many examples, they were finally stabilized. It was not an overthrowing but a sublimation!

Even so, the fact that their foundation was shaken and limited still made them more confused than ever.

At this time, a hook-nosed man walked in. He was wearing the badge of a level-seven arcanist and a seventh-circle sorcerer on his chest.

Seeing the strange behavior of the arcanists, he asked a few questions.

Hearing the answer of the middle-rank arcanist, he frowned and took over the journal 'Arcana'. As he read, he said in disgust, "Absurd! How can time and space be like this? It's completely against observation and imagination! Has Lucien Evans lost his mind because of the mathematical system that is out of touch with reality? "

"And there are many loopholes in it!"

As he spoke, he picked up Arcana and went upstairs, ready to criticize it.

"Mr. Alvaro, my …" The middle-rank arcanist whose journal was taken away by him finally gave up, because he knew that Mr. Alvaro was an experienced arcanist in the school of force field and had unimaginable insistence on the three laws of force field, the motion system and the absolute view of time and space.

… …

Inside the royal magic tower of Holm.

Seeing his teacher in front of him murmuring 'mass', 'energy', 'time', and 'space', K felt a bit scared. His eyes were focused on the journal 'Arcana' in his hands.

Suddenly, Larry's breath became short. He clenched his fists and said with his eyes shining, "If it's completed, it will be a paper that can change the era!"

"Sir?" K asked carefully. He was already a level-four arcanist and a fourth-circle sorcerer.

Larry's face was covered by his fluffy yellow beard, but he said with obvious delight, "My cognitive world has been half substantialized."

… …

On the thirteenth floor of the Allyn magic tower.

Lucien was sitting in the office of the Affair Committee, waiting for Thompson to confirm whether or not any sorcerer's cognitive world had collapsed.

"Not yet." Thompson came in from the outside, "Because you haven't given the experimental improvement of the cyclotron, and after eight months of discussion, many arcanists should be mentally and intellectually prepared."

"However, it's said that three or four senior-rank sorcerers in the school of force field had a rather intense reaction."

Lucien said helplessly, "I hope that their cognitive world is only broken and solidified, or maybe they can really find the mistakes in the paper and come up with new ideas."

Thompson did not think it was a big deal. He comforted him, "Something good happened this time. Today, at least six fifth-circle sorcerers' cognitive worlds have been half substantialized because of your paper. Four of them are from the school of electromagnetism and the school of Light-darkness. One of them is Jurisian, who you know, and two of them are elemental sorcerers. One of them is Larry. At least in the short term, the good influence of your paper outweighs the bad influence, not to mention the long term effect. "

"I've only heard of such scenes when 'Mathematical Principles of Magical Philosophy' and Brook's equations were proposed. Of course, the scale was even greater. Some people's cognitive worlds were even substantialized on the spot."
