It seemed that Udi sensed the confusion from the Merfolk Prince, who explained,
"Master, bodies transformed by such transgender spells are imperfect. Of course, this applies to beings of the Legendary Level. If beings below Legend use these types of spells, there's not much risk.
However, it's different for the Legendary. Upon ascending to Legend, their life undergoes a transformation, and after breaking through Tier Five to High-tier Legendary, there will be another transformation.
After two transformations, the bodies of High-tier Legendary beings already possess unique properties. At this point, forcibly trying to change through those transgender spells likely reduces strength, or even makes the body imperfect, affecting one's potential."
The Merfolk Prince was certainly referring to permanent transformation, a complete overhaul.
If it's temporary, then naturally it's easy—want to become male or female, it's up to you.
