Kael didn't put her down until they reached the waterhole.
The noise of the village had faded behind them. Out here there was only the croak of frogs and the moon sitting fat and white on the black water.
He set her on her feet in the moss at the edge. Then he stepped back and looked at her. Kael just stood there with his fists at his sides, breathing through his nose.
"Kael?"
"He is all over you," he said. "Your hair. Your neck. Your dress." His jaw flexed. "I can smell where he slept against your back."
Ren looked down at her dress. It was supposed to be self-cleaning.
'Apparently it doesn't do tiger.'
"So wash it off me," she said.
Kael's ears flicked up.
Ren pulled the dress over her head and dropped it in the moss. The night air raised goosebumps along her arms. She summoned the bar of lavender soap from her inventory and held it out to him.
Kael looked at the soap. Then he looked at her. Then he untied his loincloth and let it fall.
