"Put me down!" Ren screeched, her face still burning with the heat of a thousand suns.
The two naked, bickering giants looked at each other, then at her. Reluctantly, they lowered her to the ground.
Ren's legs wobbled like newborn gelatin as soon as her feet touched the grass. She had to grab a nearby sapling to keep from face-planting for the second time in ten minutes.
She took a deep breath, trying to summon some semblance of dignity.
"I am going to the waterhole," Ren announced, refusing to make eye contact with their swinging appendages. "To wash off. Alone."
She pointed a shaking finger at Kael.
"You," she commanded. "Help Viper with the elk. Gut it. Clean it. Do not let the flies get to it."
She pointed at Syris.
"And you. Gather more twigs and dried leaves. The fire needs to be big."
Before they could argue or start another fight, Ren turned on her heel and marched off toward the waterhole, her leaf skirt rustling indignantly.
