Keane Lowell fell silent for a moment.
His gaze quietly observed the partially hidden face in the dim car interior.
He raised his hand, his long fingers gently brushing aside the hair from her temple with tenderness, yet the young woman still looked at him with resentment.
He said helplessly, "I just asked a question."
Claire Prescott took a deep breath.
If she hadn't said it, would he have paid attention to her? Besides, even after saying it, he still ignored her.
There was a moment of silence.
She explained, "Ethan Lancaster came to see me today for two things: to pay for the last medical expenses for Uncle Lancaster and to invite me to Yvonne Lancaster's birthday party. Before you saw that scene, I didn't have any physical contact with him, not even letting him into Sinclair Apothecary."
"You can be angry, but you can't doubt me like that. I was bumped into him; I didn't hug him voluntarily."
As she spoke, she watched his expression change, her words sincere.
