"I didn't raise you to sell yourself for me," Alina's mother's voice was a chilling whisper when she found out how Alina had helped her. "You sold your future to someone you don't love because you wanted to save me?" She asked, pain evident in her eyes as she stared at Alina in disbelief.
Alina shook her head, tears blurring her vision. "I didn't want to lose y–"
"Alina!!" Kathleen shrieked, the sound echoing, utterly silencing her daughter. "Do you know what you signed? A marriage contract. I never wished that for you. You should have let me die in peace than go through that, only to keep me breathing and realize my daughter would live everyday under a man she didn't love."
