Lorelei had stirred up this entire mess, and Joanna clearly had no interest in wasting more time on her nonsense. When I stepped forward to move things along, Joanna simply nodded, eager to wrap this up.
"That's right. Serena is officially still in first place," Joanna declared.
The relief on Serena's face was immediate—all that worry melted away the moment she heard she'd kept her top spot.
Romano's expression went dark when he realized first place was still beyond his grasp, even after all this drama.
"Romano, as your mother, let me make something clear," I said, my voice ice-cold. "If you want to make me happy, you'll listen to me—not the woman you've been running around with. Understood?
"No mother on earth enjoys watching her child get cozy and share secrets with her husband's mistress."
My words hung in the air, publicly branding Lorelei for exactly what she was.
