Lilian's POV
Augusto went completely still for a heartbeat. Then, without warning, he fired a question at me that made my stomach drop. "Back at the bar when you said you never had feelings for me, were you telling the truth?"
I stared at him, caught off guard. Why was he bringing this up now? Earlier, he had brushed it off like it meant nothing, acting completely indifferent. Now suddenly he wanted to dig into it again. What game was he playing?
Was he fishing for my real feelings before he answered my question? Or was this some twisted test he was putting me through?
Maybe he was hoping I would crack and confess my feelings so he could tear me apart with his rejection.
While my mind spun with confusion, Augusto moved closer. His voice dropped low. "Answer me. Was it the truth?"
His warm breath ghosted across my skin, making me tremble involuntarily.
