Lilian's POV
Armand strode through the office entrance, his tailored suit giving him an air of unmistakable authority.
My confusion deepened as I watched him. What brought Armand here? He hadn't mentioned anything about visiting me.
I rose from my chair, prepared to welcome him, but he walked past without acknowledging my presence. His destination was clearly the executive suite.
The realization struck me like cold water. Obviously, he wasn't here for me at all. His business lay with Herman.
I observed in bewilderment as Armand entered the CEO's office without hesitation, bypassing the usual protocol entirely. The ease of his access left me stunned. When had Armand developed such familiarity with Herman? He'd only recently returned.
The conversations floating around me suddenly caught my attention.
"Word is that Mr. Anderson answers to someone higher up the chain. There's supposedly a shadow owner pulling the strings."
