"Are you absolutely certain you don't want to warn Augusto about this?" Antonio pressed, studying my face carefully.
"Completely certain," I replied, my voice firm and unwavering.
Antonio just smiled knowingly. If I hadn't been sure that Augusto was currently handling business matters in Bridgeton, I might have suspected he was lurking somewhere in this very building.
Antonio quickly signaled for someone to bring over my performance costume.
When I saw what they handed me, my eye practically twitched. "Wait, is this some kind of mistake?"
The outfit was a barely-there satin bunny costume. The corset looked painfully tight, the skirt was practically nonexistent, and it came complete with fishnet stockings. This looked nothing like legitimate dance attire.
Antonio put on his most innocent expression. "Every costume here is cut the same way. Believe me, I specifically chose this one for you. It's the most beautiful and definitely the most modest option available."
