Chapter 2 - The Price of a advantage

White light swallowed me, then shattered.

The world reformed into something… wrong.

I was lying on the floor of my living room, but everything felt heavier, thicker, as if mana saturated the air. My mother—Clare von Degurechaff—was kneeling beside me, shaking, sobbing, clinging to me as if I were the only thing anchoring her sanity.

Pathetic.

Blue holographic windows flickered in the air around us like poltergeists.

SYSTEM INTEGRATION COMPLETE.

ALL HUMANS PLEASE REMAIN CALM.

DANGER LEVEL: HIGH.

I stood slowly, ignoring her trembling hands. My new body—half high elf—felt light, sharp, precise. My senses expanded like a predator sniffing the air for prey.

Then another notification appeared before me alone:

[SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS: LOCKED]

"Special achievements are granted to the first individual on the planet to perform unique, significant actions."

My eyes narrowed.

A dangerous line to put in front of someone like me.

First to kill a human.

A valuable achievement.

Extra stats, abilities, reputation modifiers—everything pointed toward a significant reward.

My mind clicked, cold and fast.

Who would die first?

Probably untrained civilians. My mother included—fragile, terrified, crying. She would die anyway. The System had no mercy for the weak.

But killing her myself?

That was a different kind of opportunity.

Emotion?

Useless.

Sentiment?

An obstacle.

Survival?

Always priority number one.

Her arms wrapped around me again, desperate. "T-Tanya, bitte… please tell me you're alright… what is happening to the world?"

She looked into my eyes, seeking comfort.

All I saw was a reward waiting to be claimed.

"Mother," I whispered softly.

She smiled through tears. "Y-Yes, my little angel—?"

I moved.

Fast.

My new agility stat surged through me like lightning. Before she could blink, my hand struck her throat, fingers like a blade. The sharp nails of my half-elf form pierced flesh with horrifying ease.

Warm blood poured over my wrist.

Her eyes widened—not in anger, not in hatred—but in heartbreak.

she gasped, choking on her own blood i can see the pai, fear and suprise in her eyes as she coughs up blood.

Her body collapsed at my feet.

A calm silence followed.

No guilt.

Then the System reacted.

[SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED!]

"FIRST BLOOD OF MAN"

You are the first human to kill another human in the System Era.

Rewards:

+5 Agility

+5 Magic

+5 Dexterity

New Passive Skill Gained: Predator's Instinct (Rank F → E)

New Title Gained: The First Murderer

Interesting.

Another notification chimed instantly:

[Your title "The First Murderer" affects all human NPC and player interactions.]

Humans will feel:

• Fear +30%

• Hostility +10%

• Obedience to intimidation +20%

A perfect early-game intimidation tool.

I wiped her blood from my hands on the curtains, uninterested in the corpse. The house was still, silent, filled with the coppery scent of death.

Then—

BAM. BAM. BAM.

Something slammed against the front door.

Not human.
