The silence of the night reigned on. Nil hadn't said much since the fireworks, and my family hadn't yet returned.
I guess it hasn't really sunk in that I have a girlfriend now. It's probably because I have known her so long that it kind of felt… Normal.
*Click* The front door burst open, followed by Dad, bursting through with the energy of a thousand suns.
"Ahaha!! I have returned!!" He shouted.
He looked at the living room to where Nil and I were just sitting, drinking hot tea and staring off into space.
"Well! I take it that since you two are pretty normal, it worked out!"
Lyia popped her head out from behind him. "What worked out?"
Nil tried to respond. "We started-"
"These two lovely young adults have started dating!!!" He burst.
"Yeah…" Nil looked back at her tea.
She has completely shut off since the fireworks show. She must have reached her almost unlimited social limit.
"Whaaat!? Already!? I was expecting at least another year knowing you, Kea." Lyia shouted.
Mom appeared last. "Honey, Kea would have never confessed first."
Damn, it's true but…
"I was surprised too, she just randomly asked us to perpetrate a setting where it was only them during the New Year's and that she was going to confess." Mom chuckled.
"Caught me off guard!! It's only once you ever get to see a young woman ask the subject's parents for help on a confession!!!" My dad laughed.
They were just gossiping about us at this point… And with that 'villain revealing his plan' format.
"Whoa. Kea is all grown up now. I hardly recognize him as that older, reclusive brother anymore." Lyia chipped in again.
Kea wasn't alone in reflection. To Lyia, this was huge, a big step for her brother.
Maybe it's time for me to grow up too… Welp, they're spending their first night as a couple sleeping in the same room! Hehehe!
I don't think I'll get bored with this.
