TESSA.
Morning came faster than I expected. Robert wasn't on the room, I guess he already left before me.
I stood in front of the mirror longer than necessary, smoothing the white blouse against my waist, adjusting the collar, then adjusting it again. The black skirt hugged me just right, not too tight, not too loose. Professional. Calm. In control. At least, that was the image I was trying to convince myself of.
"You can do this," I whispered to my reflection.
But my reflection didn't look convinced.
I barely remembered what an office looked like. Desks, yes. Papers. Computers. People walking around with purpose, calling names I might recognize, or might not. The thought alone made my stomach twist. What if someone greeted me like we were old friends? What if they expected familiarity I couldn't give?
What if I forgot everyone? Or I did not remebere anyone?
I grabbed my bag and took one last breath before stepping out.
