Chapter 124 - D-Rank Missions #2

Konohagakure No Sato :

Hokage Mission assignment Area:

Time crawled by. A full hour and a half passed before a lazy, silver-haired silhouette finally strolled into the plaza, a familiar little orange book clutched in his hand.

Naruto calmly capped his pen, rolled up his scroll, and let out a sharp, piercing whistle directed up at Sasuke. Sasuke heard it, his onyx eyes darting downward. Sakura looked over as well, just in time to see Naruto give a casual thumb-jerk toward the approaching Jonin.

Both Sakura and Sasuke's eyes twitched in synchronized annoyance, though they quickly remembered Naruto's established sensory capabilities. Sasuke dropped gracefully from the branches, landing without a sound, and Sakura immediately rushed to his side. Together, they turned to face their perpetually tardy instructor.

As soon as Kakashi was within earshot, Sakura exploded. "SENSEI! YOU ARE LATE!"

Kakashi offered a closed-eye smile, entirely unbothered by the screaming. "Ah, sorry about that. I was helping a poor old granny cross the street, and then I got lost on the path of life—"

"Bu—!" Sakura started to protest, ready to tear into his ridiculous excuse.

"Let's just head to the Missions Desk," Naruto interjected smoothly, cutting off the impending argument before it could give him a headache.

Sasuke grunted in firm agreement, eager to actually do something productive. Deprived of her rant, Sakura quickly quieted down, her demeanor shifting instantly. "Yaaa, let's go do our first mission with Sasuke-kun!"

Kakashi nodded his head, visibly relieved to have avoided a scolding, and led the trio into the grand entrance of the Mission Assignment area. Naruto walked at the back of the formation. The moment he crossed the threshold of the administrative hub, the familiar chime of his system echoed in his mind.

[Growth Skill: Chunin (3/250)]

Today marked the third sign-in for this specific growth parameter. Naruto had meticulously planned his progression curve; he was determined to push this skill to the Jonin level during this transitional period of his Genin career.

In the previous year, driven by the intense medical expertise required to conceptualize and design his Eternal Forge seal, Naruto had spent months signing in exclusively at the Konoha Hospital, rapidly evolving his medical proficiency.

[Growth Skill: Medical Jonin (2/1000)]

Walking down the corridors, Naruto mentally reviewed the system's mathematical sign-in curve. The progression was exponential.

Reaching the pinnacle of Genin had only required 50 sign-in points. From Genin to Chunin, it was a steeper 250 points. But to bridge the massive chasm from Jonin to Kage-level mastery, it required a staggering 1000 points—technically three solid years of daily sign-ins.

Naruto was mathematically certain that the "Kage" tier was the absolute max level for this skill tree. Because the Mission Assignment desk operated directly beneath the Hokage's office, it was the perfect geopolitical anchor for this specific growth. From Chunin to Jonin was 250 points—roughly nine months of consistent, daily effort.

Considering that his newly crafted Eternal Forge seal was currently handling the brunt of his physical evolution, Naruto had strategically ditched his old sign in accelerated training .

Now, his weekly schedule was optimized for pure system harvesting: signing into the Great Sage Buff three times a week for cognitive processing, and farming the Growth Skill chunin four times a week.

( .........Jonin )

Team 7 soon entered the expansive main chamber of the assignment area, coming face-to-face with the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, and Iruka Umino, who sat diligently beside a mountain of scrolls.

Seeing the Hokage personally present to distribute their assignments, the atmosphere in the room immediately shifted. Team 7 straightened their postures respectfully, bowing in unison. "Hokage-sama."

Hiruzen took a slow, methodical drag from his pipe, exhaling a plume of fragrant smoke. When he spoke, his voice carried the heavy, somber gravitas of a military dictator, stripping away the grandfatherly facade he usually wore.

"Listen closely, kids," Hiruzen began, his sharp eyes sweeping over the fresh Genin. "Requests pour into this village every single day. They range from the mundane, like babysitting toddlers, to the absolute darkest aspects of our world, like targeted assassinations in enemy territory."

The mood in the room grew palpably heavier. Even Sasuke seemed to hold his breath.

"A wide spectrum of requests are meticulously recorded in our mission logs. They are separated into A, B, C, and D Ranks according to their difficulty, the required skill level, and the risk to the shinobi's life. In this village, everyone standing below me is divided by their proven ability, in the strict order of Jonin, Chunin, and Genin."

Hiruzen tapped his pipe against his desk, letting the reality of the hierarchy sink in.

"We sit here and distribute these missions to the ninja who possess the specific abilities that the mission necessitates. After a mission is completed successfully, the village receives a fee from the client. That is the lifeblood of our economy."

He looked directly at Team 7. "You three are still incredibly green. You are freshly graduated Genin, untested in the field. Therefore, we will start you at the very bottom, with D-Rank missions."

Before anyone could complain, Hiruzen raised a hand.

"Do not think D-Rank missions are useless. These missions serve a critical, four-fold purpose. They teach you teamwork and patience under annoying circumstances. They build your foundational physical stamina and mental discipline. They allow you to earn money safely while you acclimate to the shinobi lifestyle. And most importantly, they help the infrastructure of this village function smoothly."

Hiruzen nodded to his assistant. "...Now then, Iruka. Let's assign them their first D-Rank mission."

"Hai, Hokage-sama!" Iruka replied proudly, unrolling a fresh parchment.

Kakashi stepped forward, lazily accepting the assigned scroll. Naruto stood in the back, stifling a massive yawn. While the others were gearing up for their "first real ninja work," Naruto's Shadow Clones were already scattered across the village's training grounds, grinding his actual combat skills.

However, Naruto had consciously decided to perform these mundane D-Rank missions with his main body. He viewed it as a necessary vacation, but more importantly, as a highly controlled environment for his current physical handicap.

( let's see , farm work )

An hour later, Team 7 found themselves knee-deep in mud, tasked with clearing a massive, overgrown farming area and tilling the soil for the season's crops.

Naruto spent the entire day executing the grueling manual labor without a single complaint. He explicitly chose not to summon Shadow Clones to speed up the process. Instead, beneath Cloths, he subtly activated and increased the output of his custom Gravity Seals.

These weren't standard weights. They were hyper-advanced, localized gravity distortions he had personally engineered. Bound to his wrists, ankles, and a reinforced vest across his torso, the seals possessed a scalable weight range—starting at a baseline of 400 kilograms and maxing out at a bone-crushing 4000 kilograms.

As Naruto drove a hoe into the thick dirt, his muscles screamed under the immense, unseen pressure. He was working the fields while simultaneously agonizing over an immediate, critical biological problem that hadn't been fully solved despite the successful creation of his Eternal Forge seal.

(I thought I would hit two birds with one stone,) Naruto thought, gritting his teeth as he ripped a stubborn, deep-rooted weed from the soil.

(But it only hit one... or maybe my body just needs more time to adapt.)

The Eternal Forge seal was a masterpiece of Fuinjutsu and medical theory. Just like Tsunade's legendary Strength of a Hundred Seal (Byakugou), it was designed to store massive quantities of chakra over an extended period.

However, the mechanism was entirely different. Tsunade's seal was a passive accumulation; Naruto's seal was an active, violently demanding furnace. Every single day, he had to sit in deep meditation, actively guiding and compressing the energy to fuel it.

While Tsunade's diamond seal on her forehead kept her appearing youthful as a passive side-effect of cellular regeneration, Naruto's Eternal Forge was located on the lower center of his back, resting just above his tailbone—directly opposite the Eight Trigrams Seal holding the Kyuubi. Visually, it didn't look like a diamond; it manifested as a dense, sharp geometric pattern resembling a black barcode.

The core difference, however, lay in its fuel source. Unlike the Strength of a Hundred, which utilized the user's own refined chakra, the Eternal Forge was specifically designed to siphon the Kyuubi's toxic, corrosive red chakra.

The barcode seal acted as a filtration plant. It absorbed a strictly limited amount of the Fox's demonic chakra every day, violently broke down its malicious will and corrosive properties, and then stored the resulting, purified Yang-heavy energy.

This purified energy then passively flooded Naruto's system, aggressively healing his cellular structure and drastically increasing his muscle density and bone durability.

But there was a severe consequence. After one month of operating the Eternal Forge, the sheer influx of hyper-dense Yang chakra was mutating his physical strength faster than his nervous system could map it.

His main body's daily objective was essentially to intentionally damage his own muscles through extreme exercise or localized "chakra bursts technique" just so the Forge could rebuild them stronger.

These chakra bursts were utterly tyrannical. Naruto only dared to use them right before sleep, as the resulting power surge left him feeling completely disconnected from his own body.

and after healing and reforged , Naruto was suffering from a terrifying loss of fine motor control—his strength had grown so immense, so quickly, that he could easily shatter a teacup just by trying to pick it up.

This lack of control was the exact reason Naruto had decided to do these manual labor missions with his real body. By increasing the gravity seals to absurd weights, he was artificially dampening his own strength, forcing his nervous system to meticulously relearn the feeling of being "in control" while executing simple, repetitive tasks like farming.

( even without sign-in , i will be jonin physical strength in 5-6 months )

Most Jonins achieve this stregth by Chakra reinforcement , but Naruto's chakra control was still problem , but with Eternal Forge and his remaining Chakra Control , Naruto was certain to reach that level in a year .

As Naruto worked, moving seamlessly despite carrying the weight of a small boulder on each limb, Naruto mentally reviewed the new, devastating Taijutsu he had recently acquired from his brief correspondence and training sessions with Tsunade.

[Monster Taijutsu: Lv 2 (17/100)]

The so-called "Monster Taijutsu" wasn't really a martial art in the traditional sense. It was a brutal application of medical ninjutsu, requiring the user to instantly flood their limbs with highly concentrated Yang chakra at the exact moment of impact.

To use it without blowing off your own limbs, one needed the regenerative safety net of the Strength of a Hundred seal—or in Naruto's case, the Hundred Forge variant he had initially asked Tsunade to help him theorize, which had eventually evolved into his Eternal Forge.

With the Eternal Forge fully operational, Naruto had successfully reverse-engineered the prerequisites. He had simply informed Tsunade that he had mastered the Hundred Forge concept, and over the last month, she had begrudgingly taught him the kinetic theory behind her monstrous physical strikes.

Naruto wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead, looking at his bruised, dirt-covered knuckles. During the Bell Test yesterday, when he had finally cornered Kakashi in the air, he had relied entirely on pure, un-augmented physical strength to deliver that punch.

He hadn't dared to activate Monster Taijutsu. He knew, with absolute, terrifying certainty, that if he had used even a fraction of the Eternal Forge's Yang chakra during that strike, the consequence wouldn't have been a bloody nose and a bruised ego.

He would have literally burst Kakashi Hatake's skull wide open.

The sun began to dip toward the horizon, painting the expansive farmlands of Konoha in bruised purples and burnt oranges. While Sasuke and Sakura were focused on the sheer monotony of pulling weeds and clearing irrigation ditches, Naruto was fighting a silent, microscopic war within his own lymphatic system.

The secondary objective of the Eternal Forge was arguably more ambitious than the physical reforging: the reclamation of his chakra control.

However, the reality of being a Jinchuriki was a constant, exhausting tax on his precision. The Kyuubi's chakra didn't just sit in a basement; it leaked. It seeped through the cracks of the seal every hour, every minute, and every agonizing second.

And Using jutsu with this interfarence , It was like trying to perform delicate surgery while someone was constantly shaking the table and screaming in his ear.

Even with the Eternal Forge acting as a high-capacity interceptor, the seal had a throughput limit. It was a bucket trying to catch a waterfall. The "overflow" of corrosive, red energy saturated Naruto's tenketsu, acting as atmospheric static.

This created a frustrating paradox in his combat profile. Through the system and his obsessive training, Naruto possessed Max Level mastery of most C rank jutsu—techniques that should theoretically be executable with a single, elegant hand seal or even a thought.

Yet, the Kyuubi's interference turned every jutsu into a "brute force" calculation. now D rank man level jutsu can be done by a single hand-seal but C rank max level jutsu , they are all under 10 hand-seal. All because of this interference.

( No wonder canon Naruto had such a hard time, ) Naruto thought , wiping a thick layer of grime from his forehead.

(Even for the Rasengan, he needed the assistance of a Shadow Clone. The clones effectively act as isolated processors—they don't have the constant 'noise' of the main body's connection to the Fox, allowing them to focus purely on the kinetic rotation.)

Naruto sighed, leaning heavily on his shovel as the gravity seals hummed against his skin. But he wasn't deterred. He knew the fundamental law of shinobi biology:

Chakra=Physical Energy (Cells)+Spiritual Energy (Mind)

By using the Eternal Forge to rebuild his body from the marrow up using the Fox's purified physical energy, he was essentially engaged in a long-term project of "Biological Synthesis."

Phase One (Current): The body is a resisting cage, rejecting the "poisonous" chakra of the beast.

Phase Two (In Progress): The Eternal Forge "seasons" the muscles and bones. By being broken down and rebuilt with the Fox's energy, Naruto's physical container is becoming "Fox-shaped."

Phase Three (Future): Once the body (Physical Energy) adapts completely, the resulting Chakra will no longer view the Kyuubi's leak as "interference," but as a harmonic resonance.

(It's only been a month,) Naruto reminded himself, centering his breathing. (I need to be patient.)

By 5:00 PM, Naruto was sweating buckets. His jacket was soaked through, sticking to the heavy, localized gravity vest that was currently exerting 2000kg of downward force on his chest alone. He already had difficult of mainaining Breathing Technique .

Sasuke, who had been working a few yards away in a state of brooding silence, had been watching Naruto out of the corner of his eye all day. He had noticed that Naruto wasn't just "working hard"—he was moving with a strange, unnatural deliberation, as if every step required a conscious command.

Suddenly, Naruto's concentration flickered. exhaustion had made him slip, momentarily disrupting his motor control that was already shaky.

His right foot, currently burdened by a localized 500kg ankle seal, slipped into a muddy irrigation ditch. In a normal human, this would result in a splash and a tripped leg. But with Naruto's current mass and the uncontrolled burst of strength from his panic, his leg didn't just land; it descended.

CRACK-BOOM.

The ground beneath the ditch didn't just give way—it shattered. A 1-meter crater erupted instantly, dirt and muddy water geysering into the air as Naruto's leg drove nearly a meter deep into the solid bedrock beneath the soil. The shockwave rattled the shovels in Sasuke and Sakura's hands.

"What the...!" Sakura shrieked, nearly falling over.

Sasuke stood frozen, his eyes wide. He looked at the hole, then at Naruto, who was calmly (and with great effort) pulling his leg out of the pulverized earth. Sasuke's gaze traveled to Naruto's ankles, spotting the faint, glowing shimmer of the gravity seals beneath the hem of his pants.

( Those were those weight seals right.....was he wearing them all the time ??)

Kakashi, leaning against a nearby fence post with his book, didn't even look up, though his visible eye narrowed. He had known about the weights since the start of the day—he'd seen the way the grass flattened unnaturally under Naruto's boots. But seeing the sheer density of the impact confirmed his suspicions.

all the while maintaining a casual conversation. , Naruto wasn't just doing chores.

"Oops," Naruto muttered, his voice strained as he readjusted his center of gravity. "Soft patch of dirt, I guess."

Sasuke looked at the pulverized stone at the bottom of the "soft patch" and then at Naruto's nonchalant expression. A cold sweat broke out on the Uchiha's neck.

(This guy...) Sasuke thought, his grip tightening on his hoe until his knuckles turned white.
