Jenna's pov
The wait in my room was maddening. I wanted to open the door and walk out confidently. But I was not sure if I had the courage to do that.
Not many people in my life had believed in me and trusted me like Damian had. So to have him talk to me coldly was a shock to me. In my mind, I knew that it was a possibility, but once it became reality, it all hit me.
My hands were shaking even now, wondering what was going to happen.
'And the look that woman gave me…'
It was a look that told me that she thought of me even lower than dirt. It was a familiar look, so it did not hurt me much. But still…I could not say that it felt good as well.
I remained seated in silence until time passed and someone softly knocked at my door.
"Jenna, it's time for dinner."
Damian's voice greeted me and I immediately stepped toward the door to open it for him…and then froze in my steps. I realized that I was acting too much like an eager puppy, waiting for his master to come back.
"Jenna…"
