For a brief moment, I just stared at Dante, unsure of what to say.
I could disagree with him, but it wouldn't yield any good result. Whatever Dante set his mind on, he carried out. Convincing him was a waste of breath.
Still, I couldn't wrap my head around why he was punishing Oleander for this long, barely giving her space to breathe.
It had been more than a month since she'd been locked in here, and I didn't trust that freedom was anywhere in her near future, not with the way things were unfolding.
And now Dante wanted the help of Alan. Alan Bracken. That bastard.
My fingers curled into my palm at the thought of him. I had once respected Alan as a council member. But after the attack on the pack, after he held Tessa captive and spewed filth about her, whatever respect I had for him died instantly.
He had even called me a weak beta.
