OLEANDER
My eyes snapped open.
I let out a groan, rolling onto my side. Pain shot through me with every slight movement I made, and my body felt impossibly heavy. I could barely lift my hands. My legs. Every part of my damned body.
I blinked through the haze, trying to adjust to the room's brightness. When my vision finally cleared, I saw a hooded figure hovering above me.
My breath hitched. Instinct took over.
I forgot the pain, shooting out of the bed toward the door, shrieking.
Before I could make it outside, strong arms yanked me back.
"Let me go, bastard!" I fought hard against his grip, my heart pounding wildly.
He had done enough. Why was he punishing me at every possible chance?
"If you won't kill me, then I shall do so myself!"
"I hope it won't come to that." A familiar voice said dryly.
It wasn't Dante.
I twisted in my captor's arms, my eyes locking onto Hex. I swallowed the lump in my throat, my body instinctively relaxing in his hold.
