Chapter 1 - The birth of a God

Chapter 1 – The Birth of a God

The moon, almost fading beyond the horizon, hung over the dimly lit streets of Mustafu. Inside a hospital room, screams echoed through the hallway, intense, anguished, desperate. Moments later, a new life came into the world.

But unlike any other baby, this one did not cry.

Did not scream.

Did not show pain.

He simply existed.

The doctors glanced at each other, confused. The newborn only stared at them with bright crimson eyes, predatory, cold, instinctive. As if they weren't people at all, but prey.

Sweating nervously, the doctor finally managed to speak:

"Ma'am… congratulations on your son. He's healthy. Not crying is rare, but… it happens."

The woman, exhausted, smiled with relief and brought her face close to the baby.

"My little one… Dio… Dio Brando…"

For a brief moment, all seemed calm. But then, the first ray of morning sunlight passed through the window and touched the baby's skin. The newborn began to burn, open wounds forming instantly, as he released a sharp cry of pain.

"Quick! Close the curtains! It might be a sun allergy!"

The nurses rushed; the room fell into darkness once more. And just as quickly as it had started, the screams ceased.

"Doctor… is Dio… is he alright? Please, do something!" the woman begged desperately.

The doctor swallowed hard as he examined the child.

The burns were gone.

His skin was perfect.

Regenerated.

"In-incredible…" he murmured. "He healed himself. An active quirk from birth…"

The woman sighed in relief and held the baby again.

"I'm so glad, my love…"

The doctor continued, still in shock:

"But I fear the price of such regeneration is the inability to be exposed to sunlight. I recommend keeping him covered at all times, or using special clothing that blocks UV rays."

She nodded gently, grateful—yet frightened.

In the following days, something strange became evident. Dio didn't cry. He didn't nurse. He slept deeply throughout the day and woke at dawn full of energy, while his mother became weaker by the day.

Growing paleness.

Constant fatigue.

Something was wrong.

After a few days, the woman realized her body was no longer responding as it should. Alarmed, she returned to the hospital.

"He doesn't drink milk?" the doctor asked, confused.

"No. He never seems hungry. He sleeps almost all day because of his sensitivity to light. And when I wake up… he seems stronger… but I feel weaker."

After quick tests, the result hit like a thunderbolt.

The woman had severe anemia.

Continuous blood loss since childbirth.

And considering what happened até Dio's birth… there was only one explanation.

"Ma'am…" the doctor said carefully, "your child has a mutant quirk. He is, essentially, a vampire. He cannot tolerate sunlight, he possesses accelerated regeneration, and he feeds on blood, possibly yours, while you sleep."

Jasmine Brando froze. Fear gripped her chest.

"I… how am I supposed to get blood for him? He can't keep feeding on me… I'll die… and he'll be alone… his father is gone…My son..."

The doctor took a deep breath.

"The government has been informed. Given the case, they've authorized you to receive two blood bags per day. Just come to the hospital to collect them."

Tears streamed down her face.

"Thank you… thank you so much…"

Four years later

Dio's childhood was never easy. Unable to go out in the sun, unable to play with other children, he was seen as abnormal. Whenever he stepped outside, faces turned, fingers pointed, whispers followed.

It was his first day of kindergarten.

"Dio! Are you ready?"

"Yes, mom."

"Don't forget your glasses and clothes. Nothing can be removed."

"I know, mom…"

After a kiss, Dio said goodbye and walked toward the classroom.

Upon entering, all the children stared. A boy fully covered, wearing gloves, a coat, and dark sunglasses, in the middle of summer.

"Quiet, class," the teacher said. "This is your new classmate. The reason for his clothing style is his quirk."

Curious, the children gathered around him.

Dio took a deep breath. There was no reason to lie.

"My quirk is vampire. I am… a vampire, like in the stories."

He showed his canines, bright and sharp.

And fear filled the room.

"He drinks blood?" someone whispered.

"Yes" Dio replied, already knowing what would come next.

Screams. Crying. Children backing away.

"Get out of here, monster!"

"Don't come near me! Don't bite me! I don't want to die!"

Dio only sighed. He was used to it.

But then, as he lifted his eyes, he saw a blonde girl in the back row.

She wasn't trembling.

She wasn't running.

She wasn't crying.

She only smiled, fascinated.

And that was how it all began.
