CASSIAN'S POV:
The audacity of these people.
I knew I shouldn't judge anyone based on a brief encounter, but this family standing in front of me didn't deserve her. Not even a little.
She was far too good for them.
I couldn't help wondering how she had managed to live with them all those years. They were entitled, disrespectful, and controlling.
Even now—after cutting ties with her on their own—they still wanted to force her back simply because there was something to gain from it. They didn't care about her feelings at all, treating her like nothing more than a tool to be used and discarded when convenient.
I glared sharply at Samantha as she spoke, the urge to rip her throat out surging through me. As if she sensed it, Annabelle's grip on my arm tightened.
"I dare you to say that again," I said, almost growling.
Samantha flinched, clearly not expecting such open animosity. She took a cautious step back.
