Helena lay in the medical center, pale and still. Emma worked over her frantically, checking vitals, trying various treatments. Nothing was working.
"It's not physical," Emma said, frustrated. "Her body is fine. But it's like her consciousness is... somewhere else. Trapped or pulled away."
"She mentioned the seal cracking," Ezra said, standing beside me. "Could Vex be affecting her somehow from his prison?"
"Or something worse," I said quietly. A terrible possibility was forming in my mind. "Helena said other Primordials existed. What if they're waking up? What if our sealing Vex somehow alerted them?"
"That's impossible," Connor said, though he sounded uncertain. "Primordials have been dormant for centuries. One sealing couldn't wake them all."
