The first night in the cells was the longest of my life. I couldn't sleep, kept awake by pain from my shoulder wound and the constant awareness of where I was. Back in Silverwood. Back in a basement cell. Back in Alpha Thorne's power.
Through the mate bond, I felt Ezra's similar turmoil. His rage at being trapped, his fear for me and the others, his desperate attempts to think of a way out.
"Are you okay?" I asked through the bond, though I knew he wasn't.
"I will be once we're out of here," he responded. "How's your shoulder?"
"Healing. Slowly." I touched the wound gingerly. The bleeding had stopped, but the bite was deep. Even with my enhanced healing, it would take days to fully close.
"We'll get out of this," Ezra sent, though I could feel his doubt beneath the confident words.
"I hope you're right."
