Two flowers bloom; each branch bears its own tale.
Just as Chen Ze and Renamon left Mimi's apartment under cover of darkness, the other two key figures in this incident—the Yagami siblings—found themselves dragged fully into the unfolding crisis.
"Kari!!!"
Tai watched helplessly as Kari climbed onto the giant dinosaur's back before leaping from the window, dozens of meters above the ground. He rushed forward, nearly stumbling against the shattered window frame, only to catch a fleeting glimpse of their figures rapidly disappearing into the night.
"Tai? Kari? What's wrong?"
Hearing the commotion from the siblings' room, Mrs. Yagami's anxious voice sounded from behind the door.
"Tai?"
Without even pausing to explain to his mother, Tai dashed straight past her bewildered gaze, bolting out of the apartment and onto the streets.
"Tai! Where are you going so late? Tai!"
His mother's voice echoed behind him, growing fainter as Tai ran forward. His thoughts narrowed down to just one desperate goal—he couldn't let anything happen to Kari.
It was his fault he hadn't stopped her in time, allowing things to escalate this far. No matter what, he had to find his little sister.
As for what he would do once he caught up to her and that clearly rampaging Agumon—well, Tai couldn't even begin to consider that.
"Koromon? Why won't you answer me?"
Kari lay dazed, clinging tightly to Agumon's back, still completely unaware of what exactly was happening. Her repeated calls to the rampaging dinosaur went unanswered, failing to slow its desperate charge.
At this moment, Agumon's mind was utterly consumed by fear. Any slightest disturbance could provoke overwhelming hostility.
In fact, it was already astonishing enough that Agumon hadn't identified Kari as another threat, considering the sheer intensity of its panic. To expect anything more from Agumon at this point would be utterly futile.
Honk! Honk!
Just as expected, as Agumon charged blindly into the road, it inevitably crossed paths with a large truck barreling forward.
Before the truck driver could even register what lay in front of him, the enormous Agumon had already leaped high, vaulting effortlessly over the speeding vehicle.
BOOM!
Agumon landed heavily back onto the asphalt road, shattering it instantly into countless cracks that spread outward like spiderwebs.
A second later, Agumon's head whipped around furiously. Opening its massive jaws, it unleashed a blazing ball of flame aimed straight at the truck that had nearly collided with it moments before.
—Pepper Breath!
Bang!
Unfortunately, having only just evolved, Agumon was still unable to fully control its newfound power. The huge fireball missed its intended target, crashing instead into a nearby streetlamp.
Before Agumon could prepare a second attack, the offending truck had already vanished down the distant street.
"Koromon?"
Only now did Kari seem to vaguely comprehend what had just occurred.
Of course, this wasn't because Kari was exceptionally brave or particularly gifted. She was simply too young to fully grasp the concept of danger, completely oblivious to just how reckless her actions had become.
Even so, Kari could clearly sense something was wrong with Agumon—it was clearly venting its inner fears through violence.
"Stop it!"
Without thinking any further, Kari instinctively sensed that Agumon's actions were wrong and began desperately shouting.
"Koromon, please stop!"
Yet despite Kari's sincere pleading, her voice alone wasn't enough to extinguish Agumon's intense fear and hostility.
Instead, Agumon now saw every parked vehicle in the vicinity as an enemy. After a brief hesitation, it began firing massive fireballs wildly in all directions.
BOOM! BOOM!BOOM!
One after another, the fireballs exploded violently, flipping parked cars over, shattering streetlamps, and setting nearby trees ablaze.
"Koromon, stop it!"
Seeing the chaos unfold, Kari struggled forward, climbing from Agumon's back onto its head, determined to soothe its panic.
"Koromon, let's go home."
Undeniably, Kari possessed an innate affinity for Digimon. Even Agumon, rampaging and wild, gradually calmed at her gentle voice.
"Grrr..."
With a deliberately subdued growl, Agumon's expression softened slightly, yet still retained the wary, aggressive tension of a cornered beast.
But this temporary calm didn't last long. Agumon's paranoia remained, viewing every nearby machine or vehicle as another potential threat.
Even an ordinary vending machine now seemed like another version of the truck that had almost struck it moments earlier.
Roar!
Then, noticing a passenger plane soaring high overhead, Agumon's fragile calm shattered completely. It lifted its head and unleashed a furious volley of fireballs into the night sky.
BOOM!BOOM!BOOM!
The flames shot upward like surface-to-air missiles, desperately trying to strike the plane hundreds of meters above.
"Koromon…"
Faced with this, Kari could only weakly call Koromon's name over and over again.
"Kari! Kari!"
Elsewhere, Tai—who'd rushed out from their apartment—was now frantically racing through the streets, screaming Kari's name repeatedly. His voice trembled, almost breaking into sobs.
"Where did you go?"
In the end, no matter how mature Tai usually acted, he was still just a child. Facing this unexpected chaos, it was already admirable he'd instinctively rushed out to protect Kari.
But after leaving home, Tai had no idea how exactly he would catch up to Agumon and his sister. He ran aimlessly through the streets, panic clouding his thoughts.
Thankfully, his blind search didn't last long. The trail of destruction left by Agumon was impossible to miss:
Destroyed vending machines, overturned cars, pulverized pavement…
The trail looked like a tank had stormed right through the city center, giving Tai clear guidance on which way to run.
BOOM!BOOM!BOOM!
As he drew closer, Tai could even faintly hear the furious roars echoing, punctuated by flashes of fire.
"Kari's over there!"
Decisively turning toward the source of the flames, Tai sprinted forward, following the towering blaze as a beacon that would lead him straight to Agumon.
