Juan Evans sat on the ground, looking bewildered.
He still could hardly believe it—a farmer from the village had hit him and slapped him twice.
"He's hitting people!"
The matchmaker screamed.
Among the crowd, quite a few young people who had come with Juan were visibly angry and rushed over.
"What are you doing? Trying to bully Charlie?"
The villagers instantly showed their outrage.
Who was Charlie? He was a benefactor to the village, having built a main road for them, and planning to set up a plantation to help the village develop. He was practically the hope of Blackstone Village; how could they allow outsiders to bully Charlie?
The villagers grabbed whatever they could find nearby and surrounded them.
That group of people was almost scared to death, turning pale at the sight.
There were so few of them, and if a fight broke out, they would be overwhelmed by this sea of people in an instant.
