Areis blinked, opening his eyes, and he found himself back in the familiar room of his own quarters in the wolf territory. He sighed heavily as he tried to turn, but pain quickly assaulted his senses, forcing him to remain right where he was.
Then a voice sounded, worried and caring.
"You shouldn't try to turn. The clothes were just recently changed. It wouldn't be nice if they get stained again."
He turned his gaze toward the direction of the sound and saw Lucien standing there. His head was pounding hard, but he still managed to ask, "What happened?"
"You lost a lot of blood," Lucien replied gravely. "You bled excessively, and it wouldn't stop, so you're very weak right now. I doubt you can even walk."
Lucien then asked, his voice tight as he stared at his mate, "Why didn't you heal yourself?"
