And then the maid asked, "So, what have you come to the kitchen to do, my Lord?"
Areis looked around as she asked that question, surveying the entire kitchen to make sure he had everything in check. He noted where the utensils were kept, where the ingredients were arranged, and not forgetting the foodstuffs stored properly.
He rolled up the sleeves of his top as he turned back to the maids and said, "Isn't it obvious? I want to cook."
"Huh?"
They were completely flabbergasted.
In all their years of living, they had never seen a guest, or anyone of noble standing, enter a kitchen with the intention to cook, so they were quick to refute the idea.
"No, my Lord, you can't cook," one of them said, stepping forward and standing directly in front of Areis.
Areis' brows arched upward as he looked at her. With one hand stretched forward, he gently moved her aside.
"Yes, I will cook, and you will assist me."
"Erhhh?" they mumbled again, exchanging stunned glances among themselves.
