Areis looked as though he had fallen into a trance, his gaze fixed on nothing in particular. The word 'ruining' kept reiterating endlessly in his mind, echoing again and again, until Kenzie's resurfacing voice finally dragged him back to reality.
"And what made you so disoriented and confused?" Kenzie asked.
Areis's line of sight shifted to him, and he sighed once again. If it were possible, he wished everything would simply stop—so he could wake up back in his own world, lying on his bed, preparing for yet another boring lecture. Honestly, that sounded far better than this.
But no, that wasn't happening. Instead, he was being dragged from one beast territory to another, with no real say in the matter.
"I'm sorry about that," Areis said finally, rubbing his temple. "My brain just… shut down for a bit. What were you saying?"
Kenzie had paused deliberately, waiting for Areis's attention to fully return.
