And in each rank there are numerical subdivisions from level 1 to the rank cap of a particular rank.
Elementary Rank goes from level 1 to level 10[Rank cap for Elementary rank] . Beyond this, the person breaks through to the next rank.
The rank cap of each rank ascended doubles that of the previous one, increasing the difficulty to break into the next rank.
However, not everyone could access useful power through cultivation and this set in a period of oppression. To level the field, weak cultivators resorted to developing technology strong enough to face off against the strong qi users hence you'll find advanced technology in this book. And those that develop or use such technology are called Technologists.
The world is separated into 4 continents, the death continent, the life continent, the shadow continent and the light continent.
The death continent is inhabited by monsterous beasts, the life continent is predominantly inhabited by life qi users, the shadow continent by shadow qi users, and the light continent by light qi users.
To protect the infrastructure developed and limit on wars, virtual reality technology was developed which gives the inhabitants of this world near-realistic training conditions. It also gives those without real life ability to cultivate, the chance to experience how it feels to grow strong and battle monsters, other people and undead creatures. The virtual world is also a wealth mine for users who know how to utilize it well.
Pocket dimensions exist in the physical world, spawning in numerous random locations, invisible to the naked eye. A person can only enter a pocket dimension if they perform certain specific actions around the space the pocket dimension spawned. It could be jumping 5 times or even yawning or even getting knocked out.
Because of the diverse random nature of triggering actions, a lot of pocket dimensions are speculated to be undiscovered. And those that are, are usually kept secret by the people that discovered them because in them lies a wealth of opportunities like powerful artifacts and divine objects, powerful beast cores and life changing dungeon missions.
However, some pocket dimensions are public and are used as training or hunting grounds for resources.
The Mortal Reapers are an organisation of remnants of the dead Grim Reaper. They collect souls severed from the body, deal with unseen occurances like ghosts, protect the public from the soul stealing monsters created by the Soul Devourer.
If they aren't doing this, then they're probably on the hunt for each other, devouring each other's souls to collect all the grim reaper fragmented powers to become the new death god.
All mortal Reapers cannot die by any physical means, they simply pass out for a few moments and awaken, able to regenerate.
However, even with this ability likened to immortality, no mortal reaper risks using it because the time they're unconscious proves the most dangerous for them. It is when they're bodies release a signal attracting other mortal reapers to devour their souls permanently hence an actual death. Even the most powerful mortal reaper can be fell by the weakest in this defenseless state.
The power of a mortal reaper grows with the number of mortal reaper souls devoured.
Unlike the Mortal Reapers who only devour each other's souls, our MC can devour any living soul because of his Soul Devourer heritage. But given his moral standing, will he utilize this ability?
