Chapter 1 - Last Commute

Traffic backed up in the tunnel on my way home from work. Usually there were a lot of cars, but not enough to bring everything to a complete standstill like this. There must have been an accident.

If it were construction, there would have been warning signs, but there was nothing like that.

I just waited for the jam to clear up quickly.

My only hobby was gaming.

It was easier to enjoy my hobbies than to squeeze time out of my busy work life to date someone. I had pretty negative views about marriage, so even in my mid-thirties, I had to listen to my mom nagging me to please give her a grandchild. But honestly, I was really comfortable and happy with my life as it was.

Anyway, how long is this going to last?

I need to get home fast and play Medieval Knight, which I picked up a while ago.

This game lets you become a knight yourself and operate in a medieval setting. It was a dream game that mixed simulation and action, roleplaying and freedom, managing territories and families, and an open world set across all of Europe.

Plus, a DLC adding the Crusaders is coming out in a month.

I was so excited and thrilled that I don't even remember if I did my work properly.

While I was holding the steering wheel and smiling happily like that, suddenly there was a huge crash. The moment I looked in the rearview mirror to see what was happening, I saw a large vehicle charging forward, crushing several cars.

I was so shocked I didn't know what to do, and then that large vehicle crashed into my car too.

BANG!

A massive impact hit me, and I don't know what happened after that.

The world went dark and my memory cut off.

Is that what dying is like? I'm completely stunned.

It's like looking back at myself from a third-person observer's point of view.

But then a warm light burst out and without realizing it, I opened my eyes.

"What the...?"

It didn't take long to realize.

I had opened my eyes as the main character I'd created through customization in Medieval Knight.
