I stayed silent, keeping my icy stare fixed on Rose.
The expert next to us cleared his throat. "The container appears authentic, but the manuscript inside is clearly a reproduction. The paper shows aging, yet the ink remains fresh. This proves it's counterfeit."
Rose rose from her chair, a sneer twisting her lips. "Veronica, did you honestly believe such amateur theatrics would fool me?"
I'd expected exactly this reaction.
"I made it clear from the start, Rose—you'd never get your hands on the original manuscript. Offering you a copy was already more generous than you deserved.
"If developing Fragrance Garments is truly your goal, then original versus replica shouldn't matter... unless you're harboring different intentions entirely."
My tone remained steady as I held her gaze, refusing to waver.
"So you're reneging on our agreement? You don't want your daughter returned?" Rose's expression grew darker, her words cutting like ice.
