Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: You don't remember?

Slowly, Mianmian opened her eyes. Everything was blurry at first, then gradually came into focus.

The first thing she saw was a ceiling she didn't recognize, high, elegant, with a chandelier that probably cost more than her entire life savings. She sat up suddenly on the king-size bed, clutching the blanket.

"Where… am I?"

She looked around the luxurious room, marble floors, soft curtains, a view of the city. This was definitely not her house. She felt her heart jump into her throat.

Then she froze.

A man was seated on a single cushioned chair near the massive window, sunlight streaming behind him. His long legs were crossed, a newspaper in his hand, posture relaxed like a model in a luxury ad. Because of the sunlight, she couldn't see his face clearly.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAA!!"

Mianmian screamed at the top of her lungs, practically hugging the blanket into her soul.

Mo Yichen finally looked up, as he was taken aback by her screams.

"Ha. Is the sunlight affecting you?" he asked casually, drawing one of the curtains down. The other side remained open, bathing half his face in warm light.

Now she saw him clearly.

"M–Mr. Mo… Mo Yichen?"

Her voice cracked.

She looked down and her heart nearly collapsed.

Her clothes had been changed.

"My clothes! Wait... d... did… Did something happen between us?!"

Mo Yichen stood up and slowly walked toward her, hands in his pockets, steps calm and unhurried. He leaned down until their faces were inches apart. Then, with a lazy confidence, he tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear.

His voice was low.

"So you don't remember what happened yesterday?"

Then he smirked.

Mianmian's eyes popped wide.

Her hands flew to her mouth.

'So… is he saying we… we… had sex?!'

She looked like her soul left her body. Her face was already red.

Mo Yichen straightened, walked to the door, and opened it slightly before turning back to her.

"The maid will bring your food soon. Don't bother coming downstairs," he said calmly. "You look like you need plenty of rest."

Then he left, closing the door behind him.

Silence.

And then...

Mianmian started screaming silently into the blanket, punching the mattress like it insulted her ancestors.

"You fool! Look where your stupid alcohol brought you!!"
