Chapter 51 - I Need to Use the Restroom

Liu Ruyue glanced out the window and suddenly asked, "Sun Zhewen, do you think Jiangcheng County is normal?"

Sun Zhewen was taken aback, his brow furrowing slightly. "What do you mean, normal or not normal?"

Liu Ruyue looked at him calmly, her tone carrying a hint of depth. "You know what I mean."

Sun Zhewen pondered for a moment, then sighed. "The economy here is behind, it's one of the most backward places in Tiannan Province. There's some corruption and filth, so I guess it's normal."

"Normal?" Liu Ruyue's voice held a trace of doubt.

"Not normal, but also normal," Sun Zhewen said with a wry smile.

Liu Ruyue nodded, a serious look in her eyes. "I think after you go to the police station, you still need to unite a group of people and try not to get too close to those people. You're still relatively clean. Although this promotion will become a blemish on your record, if you can be a down-to-earth person and work diligently, I believe you will also grow."

Sun Zhewen looked at her gratefully, a warmth surging within him. "Chairman Liu, I understand."

"You know what's best. I also hope you can appear on a bigger stage," Liu Ruyue said earnestly.

Sun Zhewen smiled, "Hehe, it'll be good enough if I can just get a foothold in Jiangcheng."

Just as the two were talking, the car suddenly shook violently. Liu Ruyue screamed, "Watch out!"

Sun Zhewen hurriedly gripped the steering wheel, but the car still uncontrollably ran over a large rock, and then stopped after a violent jolt. He quickly asked, "Chairwoman, are you alright?"

Liu Ruyue rubbed her knee, frowning, "Seems like I'm okay, but my leg just hit something."

Sun Zhewen got out of the car to check, and found that the car's right front tire had flattened, and the axle was broken. He said helplessly, "This car can't be fixed."

Liu Ruyue looked around, worried, "What do we do? We're in the middle of nowhere."

Sun Zhewen took out his phone and looked at the time, helplessly saying, "We can only call and have the county send a tow truck."

It was already nine o'clock, and the sky had completely darkened. There were very few cars on the road, only theirs still illuminated. The surroundings were silent, with only the chirping of insects echoing in the night sky, as if playing a lonely nocturne for them. Sun Zhewen took out his phone and dialed the auto repair shop, waiting for someone to answer.

After a few rings, someone finally picked up. A lazy voice came from the other end: "Hello, what's up?"

Sun Zhewen tried to remain calm and said succinctly, "Our car broke down on the way back from Linshui Town. We need your tow truck to come and take a look."

The person on the other end didn't seem in a hurry to act and still sounded lazy: "Alright, wait there."

Sun Zhewen was a bit impatient but still asked, "How long will it take you to get here?"

A hint of impatience came through in the other person's voice: "It's hard to say. Our tow truck is still out and hasn't returned yet. We'll have to wait until it gets back."

With no other choice, Sun Zhewen hung up the phone and turned to Liu Ruyue, saying, "Chairman, it looks like we'll be waiting here for a while."

Liu Ruyue nodded and sighed, "Then let's wait."

Sun Zhewen turned off the headlights, leaving only the hazard lights blinking their red warning in the darkness. Under the flashing red lights, they both tried to calm the lingering excitement from before. The atmosphere in the car was a bit stifling, with only the chirping of insects and the occasional whisper of wind for company.

Suddenly, Liu Ruyue said softly, "I need to use the restroom."

Sun Zhewen blinked, then said, "Just go outside, then."

Liu Ruyue looked around the dark surroundings with some hesitation, and said, "I'm a little scared."

Sun Zhewen couldn't help but laugh, "Heh heh."

Liu Ruyue playfully hit him, "You're laughing at me."

Sun Zhewen stopped laughing and asked, "So, what should we do?"

Liu Ruyue thought for a moment, then said, "Come with me."

Sun Zhewen hesitated. "Are you sure about this?"

Liu Ruyue glared at him. "Just turn around, it's not a big deal."

Sun Zhewen nodded reluctantly. "Alright, alright."

Liu Ruyue opened the car door and stepped out. She'd only taken one step when she suddenly cried out, "Ouch!" Her foot slipped, and she nearly fell.

Sun Zhewen immediately asked, "What happened?"

Liu Ruyue frowned, her face contorted with pain. She whispered, "I twisted my ankle."

Sun Zhewen looked at her, shook his head, and sighed. "Ugh, you really are cursed, aren't you?"

Liu Ruyue tried to stand up, but a sharp pain instantly made her abandon the attempt. Gritting her teeth, she said, "No, it still hurts."

Sun Zhewen frowned slightly, asking with concern, "What do we do now?"

Liu Ruyue looked around, her gaze landing on a large tree not far away. She pointed and said, "Carry me behind that tree, will you?"

Sun Zhewen nodded. He walked over and bent down, carefully picking Liu Ruyue up. Although he tried his best to keep his balance, it was still a bit of a struggle, and his body swayed slightly.

Liu Ruyue felt his tension and couldn't help but ask, "Am I heavy?"

Sun Zhewen's face flushed slightly, and he quickly explained, "Ah, no, you're not heavy. I just don't exercise enough."

Liu Ruyue pouted and said, "Looks like I should go on a diet."

Sun Zhewen shook his head, looking at her seriously, and said, "You're fine like this. There's plenty of... meat where there should be."

Liu Ruyue glared at him, "I didn't expect you to be so vulgar."

Sun Zhewen quickly waved his hand, hurriedly explaining, "Ah, I was just saying! I haven't seen or touched anything."

Liu Ruyue raised an eyebrow and asked, "You still want to touch?"

Sun Zhewen shook his head repeatedly, his voice a little flustered, "No, no, I wouldn't dare."

Finally, Sun Zhewen and Liu Ruyue reached the big tree. The night around them was as dark as ink, and they could only hear the rustling of leaves in the breeze. Sun Zhewen carefully put Liu Ruyue down, afraid of hurting her foot. Then, he turned and went to the front of the tree to give her some privacy. He only heard the sound of "whooshing" water behind him, and Sun Zhewen thought to himself, She really had to go.

After a while, there was another rustling sound, and Liu Ruyue whispered, "Okay."

Sun Zhewen turned around and saw her trying to stand up, a look of pain on her face. He quickly walked over and picked her up. Fortunately, it was dark, so he couldn't see her blushing face. Sun Zhewen opened the back door of the car and carefully placed her in the back seat. Then, he turned on the reading light and said softly, "Take off your socks, I'll take a look."

Liu Ruyue shook her head, a hint of stubbornness on her face. "No need. I'll just put some medicine on it when I get back."

Sun Zhewen frowned, his tone firm. "Let me see. It'll be a problem if it's broken."

Liu Ruyue's eyes widened slightly, looking a little panicked. "Ah, is it that serious?"
