On an overgrown field of wild weeds, a boy appears to be sleeping.
He is sleeping on his back and he looks very peaceful.
The boy's appearance is quite normal, not overly handsome and also not ugly either.
He is wearing a hemp clothing that is unusual in a modern world.
Slowly, the boy start to move. He move slowly at the beginning and gradually he opened his eyes.
After opening his eyes the boy slowly sit up and he looks around. He frown after looking around and find that he is in a place that he doesn't recognize.
He then try to search his memory and remember the last thing that he can remember.
He can remember everything about himself.
His name is Cloud. He is someone who lives in a regular, modern world. His hobby is reading novels, particularly martial arts and cultivation novels.
He read so much novels that he works as a writer. He is a decent writer because of the sheer number of novels that he has read.
He loves cultivation base story so much that he wish he lives in such a world.
The last thing he remembers is that there is a new virtual reality game of cultivation that is in an alpha test stage.
They are using a full dive technology that is newly invented because of the booming trend in tech and ai.
In the end Cloud find a way to volunteer as a tester of the technology and the game.
Both the game and the technology is still in a very early stage so there are indeed some risk for the tester that volunteer. They even have to sign some form before they can become a volunteer.
But the payment is quite generous and there is also some fanatic that are willing to be a tester just like Cloud because they wish they could see a cultivational world so it wasn't to hard to gather the first 50 people to become the tester of the alpha version.
The last thing that Cloud can remember is that he was laying in the virtual reality pod and eagerly waiting for the game to start.
After that it was like he fell asleep then here he is when he wakes up.
Cloud stand up and look around the area again but he can't see much because he is surrounded by weeds that are higher than him.
He checks his body, the things he can see like his clothes and hands. It feels unfamiliar to him.
"Is this the virtual world?" Cloud quietly speaking. But he feels that something is off.
Everything here is too realistic. The feeling, the smell, the rustling sounds of wind and some unknown animals around.
"Has it already this advance?" As far as he knows, virtual reality in his world shouldn't have reached this point yet. But he also think that maybe it's because of the new full dive technology.
"Menu." Cloud calmly said. He was brief before the start of the test and saying so should have make an option menu appears before him.
But nothing happened. He try a few more times but still nothing happened.
"Maybe it's and error?" Cloud said so but he also think of a possibility of transmigration.
He read many stories about transmigration main characters and very much wish he could become one but that is even more ridiculous than a realistic vr system so right now he didn't think too much about it.
Since he can't do anything right now he decides to look around the area to get more information.
Cloud choose a direction and he walk that way. After walking for about ten minutes he hear the sound of water.
He follow the sound and after just a few more minutes he find a small river.
When he saw the river he becomes quite happy and he hurriedly walk to the riverbank.
The river water is flowing vigorously. The water is so clear like glass and Cloud can see many fish on it. The view of the river is very beautiful. It is the most beautiful one Cloud has ever see with his own eyes.
Surprise flash in his eyes as he enjoys the view for a few seconds.
After admiring it a little he came back to his senses and he start to look for more information.
First he look at the river water to see his reflection. Right now is around morning or noon so he doesn't have a problem in doing so.
Cloud is surprised to see that his body is that of a young boy. No wonder he felt a bit off since the beginning. He feel that he is shorter than he usually is and he also saw at the beginning that his limbs are smaller and thinner.
He did expect that he wouldn't be in his own body since he was entering a game but he didn't expect that his body now would be that of a child.
He is around mid 30 and he expected that he would at least get an adult game avatar so getting a child instead is a bit of a surprise.
But he didn't think much of it. Perhaps it's just related to the game's story or something.
After carefully examining his body, Cloud then look around the area around him.
Around the riverbank there is not much overgrown weeds like where Cloud came from so that mean the area is maintain by someone.
That means there must be people near this area.
Cloud decides to follow the river downstream in hope to find people.
After walking for about 20 minutes his eyes lit up as he sees the silhouette of a village.
Cloud quickened his pace and soon he arrives at the village.
The village is a small village. From the outside you can see the village walls made from long sticks about four meter high surrounding the entire village.
The village only have one entrance and at the entrance there are two people guarding.
The two are holding 2 meters crude long stick each as weapon and they chat to each other while guarding.
Seeing people for the first time Cloud quickly come over to them.
"Excuse me, I think I lost my way. Could the two of you tell me where this is?" Cloud speak to the guard as he come near them.
The guard saw Cloud when he came over and notice that he is unfamiliar. When they hear Cloud speak to them they frown and became wary of him.
They point their stick toward Cloud while speaking to him. "Who are you? Where did you came from?"
As soon as Cloud heard them he understand that his situation is worse than he thought.
He can't understand a word coming out of their mouth.
