Ryan Stone, an English teacher for Cambrian High School, had a daily schedule focused solely on his work and going home. Being an orphan, he genuinely wished to be a good teacher for his students. On that fateful day, he was moving past the lake next to the campus to take a break when he suddenly saw one of his students struggling in the water. He jumped in to save the kid. He managed to rescue the student, but when he tried to get out of the water, something pulled him from below. He couldn't get out. He struggled to no avail until his vision went blank.
When he reopened his eyes, he was sitting in a chair in an exquisite room, decorated like a medieval noble's office. He was flabbergasted. He stumbled toward the window, the thick, leaded glass panes framed by heavy, carved stone. He opened it, and the first thing he saw was a couple of kids riding a wyvern. He was scared to death.
He stumbled backward and found a mirror. He looked into it, and it did not reflect the familiar face of Ryan Stone; it showed the face of a stranger. The stranger looking back was strikingly handsome, with a jawline shaped with precision, long, cascading white hair the shade of snow, and a pair of jade-red eyes like two pieces of rubies cut with precision that looked as deep as an ocean. He took a step back and surveyed his attire. It was the most exquisite cloth he had ever seen: a black tunic with golden and silver threaded embroidery that spoke of royalty. His body and muscles seemed like something sculpted with precision.
He was trying to understand what was happening until he suddenly had a terrible headache that dropped him to his knees. Memories started flooding in of the body he was currently in: the body of Ryan Lumos, a prince of a fallen empire and a professor of The Grand Arcanum Academy.
He was reincarnated in the world named Faelon. It is a vast world, hundreds of times bigger than Earth, with a great sea dividing its numerous continents. There are many continents: some that excel in magic, some in technology, some in cultivation, some in beast taming, some that use holy power, some that use demonic power. There are different continents with elves, humans, Dragonborn, Beastmen, orcs, and myriads of other races.
In that world, the organization that stands at the peak is The Grand Arcanum Academy. Royals, nobles, and commoner geniuses from all over the world join the academy when they turn eighteen. It is the pinnacle of knowledge in the world of Faelon. Its headmaster, The Grand Archon of Faelon, is the strongest being in the world.
Ryan Lumos was the prince of the Great Luminous Empire, an empire that had fallen at the hand of Void Beasts—creatures that came from the void to invade Faelon. Ryan was a genius in the royal family who was chosen as a professor in the Academy. But this resulted in only him surviving the fall of the empire, making him the sole survivor of the fallen empire. Now without any backing, Ryan got entangled in the complex politics of the academy and was demoted due to the jealousy of his colleagues and superiors. He was transferred to teach Class Zero.
Class Zero was a class of all girls, each with some issue with her power, attitude, or background. These girls were ridiculed throughout the academy, with Class Zero being marked as the greatest failure in the academy's long history of countless epochs. With the sorrow of losing all his loved ones and the shame of demotion, the previous owner of the body, Ryan Lumos, was devastated and became a heavy drinker. A few hours ago, he died from an unexpected heart attack—quite ridiculous for a genius of his caliber who was a Grand Magus to die from a heart attack, only if he was sober enough to react in time, or perhaps he just gave up on life. This allowed Ryan Stone to take over the body of his predecessor.
After calming down, Ryan contemplated what to do next. Suddenly, he remembered today was the day he was supposed to attend Class Zero as their new professor. He sighed, took his cloak, wrapped it, and got ready to attend the class. Suddenly, he looked at the desk and saw a fountain pen with an exquisite runic design on it. He remembered it was an artifact his late father gave him when he left to become a professor in the academy. It was called "The Pen of Logos." His predecessor never figured out its use and used it as just an ornament. Ryan felt an intense connection to the pen, took it with him, and began his journey toward Class Zero. With the memories of his predecessor, he recalled all his spells.
After leaving the room, he took flight. Flying in the sky right above his own mansion, he looked around. The Grand Arcanum Academy was located in the Central Continent, right in the middle of Faelon. Its size was bigger than Earth itself, with sprawling cities. The region he was in was the Professor's living area; there were giant mansions as far as he could see, each belonging to an academy professor. Each dwarfed the most extravagant noble household castle by a vast margin.
Suddenly, a girl arrived next to him. Ryan recognized her from the memory; she was Sophia, Ryan's head maid and assistant. She used to be his underclassman during his days as a student in the academy, later joining as his assistant. They had a very good relationship.
"Lord Ryan, today is the day you have to attend Class Zero to teach," Sophia exclaimed.
"I know, Sophy, I will be heading there soon. How are you doing?"
Sophia was surprised. "Fine, my lord." Hearing this, Ryan smiled brightly. He turned around and transformed into a stream of light, traveling to the center of the academy.
Sophia was a genius commoner who attended the academy without any backing, relying only on talent. Thus, people jealous of her started ridiculing her in every possible way. When she was on the verge of collapse, Ryan stepped in. He was a genius whose talent even dwarfed her own, but he was a prince of a Great Empire—a being who should have nothing to gain from helping a common girl like her. Yet he did, without expecting anything in return. She was relieved, and she passed her academy days by Ryan's side, witnessing his kind and righteous heart. Slowly, she fell in love with Ryan. But knowing her own humble background, she didn't dare to express her feelings.
When Ryan was chosen as a professor, she was overjoyed. Later, she joined as his assistant. She was happy with her position as his assistant and head maid, thinking it was enough to stay by his side till the end. But slowly, she saw how the annihilation of Ryan's family and empire, the ridicule, the schemes, and the demotions slowly broke Ryan. She was powerless to do anything while she saw her beloved lose his smile and become a drunkard. He stopped calling her Sophy. She was devastated, too, but today, seeing his smile and determination again and hearing him call her Sophy again, she couldn't stop herself from crying. She didn't know what caused the change, but she was happy.
In the center of the academy, Ryan reached the main academy city. It was a vast city with countless castles and monuments, with people flying everywhere—some just floating with magic, some on magical beasts, some in futuristic hovercraft, some having wings, others on swords. The central edifice, which was made with pure exotic stones like mithril and gold, showed the absolute authority it holds. People call it The Grand Scriptorium. It soared to impossible heights, its peak hidden behind the clouds of Faelon; some say it reaches the edge of the void. After enjoying the grand city, Ryan now made his way toward Class Zero to see what challenges awaited him.
