Chapter 83 - Doom

"Boss, I want to resign."

While delivering documents for Uld, Natalie said this to Zod.

"Hm?" Zod immediately looked up.

The moment he saw it was Black Widow, he turned serious.

"Why resign? Is the salary not enough? How about this, I'll double your pay."

Zod really didn't want to lose Black Widow. Not because she was pretty. His taste leaned more toward an Asian vibe.

It was mainly because she was capable. By herself, she could do the work of several secretaries and assistants. Even Uld said that with Black Widow helping, her workload had gotten a lot lighter.

Zod didn't know why a spy was so good at management, but how could he let such a useful person go so easily?

After all, an undercover agent was the one who worked 100%100% seriously.

"Boss, it's not about money. I just have some things…" Black Widow's fingers tightened slightly.

Ever since she started working at Blade Tech Industries, she could finally afford the bags and cosmetics she used to only stare at, and she'd even bought entire collections. But she still hadn't been able to properly carry out her work, which gave Nick Fury a headache. On top of that, something happened in Africa recently, and she needed to handle it.

"You sure? Four times," Zod said, holding up four fingers.

Black Widow paused. Now she wasn't so sure.

If she handled the Africa situation as fast as possible and came back, would she still make it in time?

Nick Fury would definitely assign someone to take over her tasks, so telling Fury she was working two jobs was probably unrealistic.

"Alright then. Six times." Zod raised the offer again.

He had just gotten Stav's 100100-times capital. Zod was rich right now, and he didn't care about money.

Black Widow took a deep breath and decided to go back and have a proper talk with Nick Fury. Only she could truly get Blade Tech Industries' work rolling!

Watching her walk away quickly, Zod read her mental memories and nodded in satisfaction.

Looks like the people in this world who couldn't be solved with money were still a minority.

Then Zod signed off on the documents at top speed, and in the next moment, he teleported into outer space.

Reed had discovered an error in the data and wanted to abort the mission.

But Lord Doom refused. What a joke. If they aborted now, he'd lose everything. Reed chose this moment to tell him the data was wrong?

There was no time to scold Reed, because that strange cosmic radiation storm was already sweeping in.

"We're finished!!!"

Everyone wore a look of despair.

"Something feels off," Zod said.

He was right beside the space station, and he could clearly see that the cosmic radiation storm was fluctuating in an abnormal way. Then he too was covered by the storm.

Inside the station, the five people's genes evolved.

Yes, evolved. Under Zod's atomic-level super vision, he could see it wasn't mutation. Inside this space radiation storm, they completed an evolutionary process that would normally take humanity tens of millions, even hundreds of millions of years!

As for Zod himself, he welcomed it all, absorbing every trace of the radiation storm into his body without missing a single bit.

Then his whole body underwent violent changes as well.

"Doesn't feel bad," Zod said, watching the transformation of his cells.

It was fascinating. Still, if anything went wrong, he would reverse it immediately.

But to Zod's surprise, he gained no new abilities at all, as if the radiation storm hadn't affected him in any way.

Yet his cells had clearly just changed.

Zod fell into thought. He didn't know if his involvement caused an accident for the space station, but the five people inside were about to suffocate to death, because the station had ruptured.

With no choice, Zod had to take them away. With psychic teleportation, it wasn't much effort.

When he grabbed Invisible Woman, Susan, she woke up from the pain of suffocation and immediately saw Zod Heath.

But Zod always wore the Dark Knight armor when he went out, so there was no need to worry about exposing himself.

After a brief moment of clarity, Susan quickly passed out again from suffocation.

When she woke up again, she was already in the hospital.

"Sis! Do you know? Dark Knight Zod saved us!" Her younger brother, Jonathan "Johnny" Storm, rushed in, excited and thrilled.

"Dark Knight Zod?" Susan looked confused.

Johnny wore an expression that screamed, Sis, you're out of touch, as he pulled out the news report.

Then Susan saw the familiar black armor.

"It's him!"

She remembered what she saw right before she lost consciousness, and then she remembered the face under the armor.

Zod Heath!

She didn't pay much attention to Dark Knight Zod, but as a researcher, Zod Heath was not a stranger to her.

A genius. A genius beyond the century. Any one of his achievements was enough to make someone else a textbook example, leaving a mark in human history.

The project her boyfriend Reed Richards had spent his whole life struggling to develop still couldn't compare to Zod Heath's scientific results from just 2020 short years. And Reed hadn't even succeeded. He'd failed.

Zod didn't pay much attention to the Fantastic Four. Once he extracted the genes, that was that.

But with Lord Doom, Zod arranged for him to be discharged early and moved into World Serpent's research base.

That base was Zod's ranch in Texas, over three thousand acres.

Underground, it had basically been hollowed out and rebuilt into World Serpent's base.

Lord Doom was still unconscious. According to the movie's plot, he should become a metal man.

"Doctor Doom, or Lord Doom…" Zod muttered.

Getting a chance to mess with a villain who might someday reach omniversal levels was rare. Zod wasn't going to be polite.

After a careful examination, Zod confirmed this was likely the movie version of Doom.

Good. If that was the case, even if the Marvel universe he was in wasn't the movie universe, it probably wouldn't be too dangerous.

"Where… is this?" Doom woke from his sleep at that moment. Seeing the unfamiliar surroundings, he demanded an answer.

Then he saw Zod Heath.

"Zod Heath!" Doom's pupils contracted.

Why was it Zod Heath?

"Hello, Doom," Zod said. "But I'm not interested in chatting right now. As a villain, you should behave and go back to sleep."

Zod twisted the magnetic field. The moment Doom tried to resist, Zod stopped the motion of his atoms. Doom stiffened in place and immediately lost consciousness.

Blue light flared in Zod's eyes, and a freezing beam struck Doom.
