Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Accepting that I have no magic, but I'm in an anime and magic world! In my head some semi-religious nonsense about chosenness was born! Yes, yes, exactly that! The essence is that if I had magic—I'd send the Holy Grail War to hell. Which I ended up doing, but I have no magic! Meaning the only way to obtain it is help from another mage—which is unlikely, both the fact of help and that they can help. Or the Grail itself!

In its war there will be as many as 2 non-mages! Apparently the world soul itself is pushing me… somewhere. The theory that if I immediately agreed to participate in the local brawl some higher powers would drop me a bonus in the form of magic sounds like nonsense. But possible nonsense! The local world soul seems to have some consciousness and the Grail too!

If we remember Shirou Emiya, when he finally died… honestly can't say who or what exactly, but you could say FROM ABOVE he got a job offer as… um… world guardian? What exactly he did I never understood, seems supposed to repel attacks from outside demons, but from his words arranged genocide of people in some Africa. Why? For what? Don't know, but as they say up there someone exists and even does something.

Only I got no revelations or offers FROM ABOVE. Which somewhat breaks my theory, besides that it itself sounds like nonsense and I don't really believe in it. Thought flashed that I could've slept through that moment—but no, don't think so.

And there's no way out, I need the Grail! And fuck the demon in it and twisted wish fulfillment, somehow I'll manage. And what can happen in the worst case? Don't believe in apocalypse or even half the world, won't pull it—and the world is full of those who can stop it! In the worst case the world itself will intervene! It has those guardians after all.

So the worst is a Japan destroyed to 0 with the entire population. Of course unpleasant consequences, but tolerable—in the sense what do I care about Japanese? Between the possibility to become a mage, and with the Grail possibly truly great and powerful in potential! And the population of some country? Pfff, choice is obvious! Of course magic! Do you hear me world?! Give me magic and don't force me to go to extremes!

A minute of silence.

And nothing. Well, now my conscience is clear—the world either doesn't mind or more likely doesn't give a damn about me. Well fine, I'll make it reckon with me!

So now need to remember about the non-mages of this war. First… um.. some… hmm… already don't remember what he looked like, remember only that it's some whiny arrogant loser with a magical tome his grandpa gave him. And deep in my soul a desire to kill him surfaced, think if opportunity arises I won't deny myself the pleasure. But the variant with a cool grandpa and magical book doesn't suit me. Shame.

The second non-mage in this war will be the local teacher-maniac-killer who found Caster in the forest. Variant wonderful from all sides! Possibly Caster herself even knows a way to become a mage! The only problem is to find her, and from all coordinates I know it's that she'll be in the forest, at night and it'll be raining. Or there was no rain and it was added for drama? Though hope is strong, and I'll roam the forest every night hoping to find her, with my mind I already understood nothing will come of it. Meaning this variant doesn't suit either.

So have to remember about the squid I saw on TV and its Master. That Caster herself was called, um.. Gilles de Rais? Who is that at all… Mmm, seems he confused Artoria with Joan of Arc which narrows the suspects to the whole France of who knows what year.

I watched the story of Joan of Arc as a child on TV, still in THAT childhood—previous life, at 12. And all I remember from there is that before burning at the stake a priest or local noble fucked her? And that's where my knowledge about her ends, I don't even know the year. And what exactly she's famous for.

Ahem, somehow went off track—anyway Gilles was summoned by some guy who arranged artistic carving of people in alleys. And most of the war these 2 maniacs cut people for fun. What conclusion can be drawn from this?

Wellll, if we really stretch facts to at least some even weak magical theory—then he somehow through unknown means via mass sacrifices squeezed a drop of magic or prana—sort of life energy from people, somehow used it to start his magical circuit, what the psychopath was thinking at that moment is a mystery to me—but don't think he even realized what he did. And all this was somehow perceived by the Grail as a ritual Servant summoning.

I previously thought a complex ritual was needed, some drawing on the floor with candles, a catalyst for summoning—a thing of a historical figure or powerful artifact. And here bam and such. Okay, suppose without a catalyst it's possible to summon a Servant—somewhere I heard that then it summons not a specific Servant and class, but one closer in worldview and spirit to the summoner.

Hmmmm… I don't remember exactly when the Holy Grail War starts, but roughly can estimate the year—if throughout the whole year try to summon a Servant exactly by spirit, then I might get Caster. Though most likely will give a Servant from the "what's left" section and to the very last. Hmm, or no? For some reason I thought of Assassin, but seems Caster summoned him for herself, and after that Artoria and Shirou were summoned.

Ah yes, need to get used to calling them by names, or not? Hmm, probably not, might accidentally blurt out and it'll be awkward. When someone unknown knows your name that you hide—it makes you think, and extra suspicions I don't need.

Having thought it over, came to the conclusion that yes I might get Caster! Or anyone! Of course this will somewhat distort the story I barely restored in my diary—but the very fact of my existence already distorted it! True mass sacrifices don't attract me, and how many exactly is mass? 5 people? 10?

Pondering this came to the thought that just cutting people in a basement and yelling dirty ditties at the ceiling hoping for a result is doubtful, as far as I remember in Shirou Emiya's… um.. shed? Somewhere on the floor under a pile of boxes seems, don't remember what he covered it with, but kinda hidden from eyes.

Ahem, anyway—there's a Servant summoning magic circle! If I copy it and spill people's blood on it—that should greatly increase success chance! Otherwise it'll be stupid if all I achieve is just meaningless human deaths.

Well, this already looks like a plan skeleton! Only need to decide on… a lot. From how I get there, where I'll live, what I'll live on—well here there's an option with looting the people I'll cut. And about everyday things need to think too. Hmm, and also desirable to know the exact date. So, remember, that video with the squid was in, estimating in my mind what year it is now and how much passed. Somewhere in 1994? And season, spring?

Well suppose. Hmm, Servant summoning surely starts earlier. Okay settled on year 2004, if all preparation starts in winter, or maybe even in 2003, probably will start summoning Servants. Estimating this way and that considering elementary recon and everyday life, I should start preparation in 2002 already in Fukuoka itself. And now it's 2000. Damn.
