Chapter 1 - Shame and Secrets

Chapter 1

"Why is everyone always against my decision?" Ms Alice screamed

"Because you don't make a good decision, you are so dumb," Ms. Lisa smirks.

"Like seriously if I'm dumb you tell me,what decision exactly have you made or contributed to this family? Ms Alice asked.

"I have made none but at least I didn't bring shame into this noble family–because of you the family is in a big trouble," Ms Lisa

"Enough of this rubbish between you both, can't you make use of your time for once, Lisa don't talk to your sister that way," Mrs Anita said watching the news on the television.

"Lisa you know have the audacity to talk to me but anyway I never blamed you if I was once considered as a child we wouldn't have been here," Alice climbs the stairs to her.

Ms. Lisa scoffed and sat on the couch, "how could she," she murmured.

"I have told you several times you don't need to stress yourself, she is a curse to this family," Mrs. Anita twists her mouth in disgust.

"Sometimes I need to let her know how she feels we share the same space, that's bad," Ms Lisa lips curly.

"Her bastard son will soon be back, if it wasn't for her father she would have aborted it," Mrs Anita scoffed under her breath.

"My son is not a bastard and will never be one, Mom how could you say such a thing," Ms Alice cut her shot as she walked them from her room.

"Why can't you just mind your business, Alice, who is referring to you," Ms Lisa raised a brow.

"And what if I was refer to you, is he not a bastard, shameless girl," Ms. Anita

"Sometimes I wonder who you are actually siding, few minutes ago you were supporting me now insulting my son, what has he done to be called a bastard, Ms Alice

"Where are your manners? Tell me who his father is and he will be free from all these names, Ms Lisa said.

"I did what I did to save this family and this is what I get in return, why? I slept with a total stranger to pay your hospital bills and you Lisa to be able to write your examinations

Hey stop it, look at you claiming the hero here, nobody sent you to get pregnant for anyone, are you the first person, please oo

Why can't you be grateful for once Mom, your grandson is the one you are calling a bastard, you can call me all the name but my son hell no, Ms

Don't you ever in your entire miserable life raise your voice at me, stupid good for nothing, I'm out of here Mrs Anita.

"What is this image lingers around your head, yet you chose imagination and refuse reality, Daniel scoffed under his breath.

I know she is real and somewhere in this world, come to think of it, don't you have something meaningful to discuss except ladies,Mr. Jamal snapped.

Yes I don't have anything important to discuss because this is more important than anything you could think of, your father is there pleading you to get married but yet you develop a cold feet towards it. Mr. Daniel shouted.

What the hell is going on here? Elizabeth asked, she pushed the door.

And what the hell are you doing here, what gave you the audacity to walk into my room, Mr. Jamal frowned his face.

Guy, calm down of course she is here for you, can't you see she cares about you,Mr. Daniel walked out.

He was leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed, scowling at the thought of having to endure her presence. He never liked her—never. She, however, seemed to exist only to challenge that.

The crimson silk of her dress caught the dim light, clinging to her curves, the slit along her leg revealing just enough to make his jaw tighten. She moved slowly, deliberately, as if each step was a word in a language only she understood.

Her eyes found him, glinting with mischief. "You're still here?" she asked softly, tilting her head, her voice low and honeyed. "I was hoping you'd be alone… maybe bored enough to talk to me."

He snorted, turning away. "I'm never bored with you," he muttered, the sarcasm barely masking the tension in his chest.

She closed the distance between them with a few graceful steps, the faint scent of jasmine and vanilla drifting toward him. "Oh, come on," she purred, leaning just close enough for him to feel her warmth. "You don't have to lie. I know you've noticed me."

Her hand brushed lightly against his arm, casual but intentional. He froze, irritated and something else, something unrecognizable, flaring inside him.

"You like to pretend you don't," she continued, her smile slow, deliberate, teasing. "But I like that about you. Makes the chase more… exciting."

He pulled back slightly, exhaling, trying to regain control. "You've always been… relentless."

"And I'll keep being relentless," she whispered, tilting her head to meet his gaze again, "until you stop pretending you don't care."

Her words hung in the air between them, heavy and charged, the room suddenly smaller, hotter, filled with tension neither of them could ignore.

He rubbed the back of his neck, frustration flickering across his face. "You don't get it," he muttered, voice rough. "I don't… I don't do this. Not with you."

She laughed softly, the sound low and teasing, like a secret meant only for him. "Oh, I think you do," she said, stepping even closer, so close that he could feel the warmth radiating off her. Her fingers trailed lightly along his shoulder, brushing just enough to make him flinch. "You just haven't admitted it yet."

Her eyes locked onto his, unwavering, daring him to challenge her. Her smile was slow, knowing, the kind that promised she had all the patience in the world… and all the power in her charm.

"You're playing a game," he growled, finally looking at her fully, his chest tightening. "And I'm not going to play."

"Maybe not," she murmured, leaning just close enough for him to feel her breath, scented faintly with jasmine and something warmer, intoxicating. "But I love games… especially ones you think you can't win."

She let her hand linger on his arm, tracing a line that made his pulse race. Her hips shifted subtly as she moved, each motion deliberate, controlled in motion. Her voice, low and velvet-like, floated in his ear. "Just talk to me. Just for a minute. You might… I like it."

He swallowed hard, trying to step back, but his body betrayed him. The fight in him flickered, faltering under the weight of her presence. Her smile widened, triumphant but gentle, and she whispered, almost teasingly, "See? You can't resist me. Not completely."

The tension between them hung thick, electric, charged with unspoken desire. He wanted to leave, but every instinct in him said stay. Stay and see just how far she would go.
