He'd thought one public embarrassment was already too much. Now he was getting a second one immediately.
And this time, it wasn't even canon anymore.

Naruto looked around, massaging his temples, then snapped at Sasuke, "Bro, you fought, you showed off—how the hell did this turn into me directing the scene?!"
He felt spectacularly wronged.
Sasuke snorted. "You were baiting them on purpose, weren't you? Trying to draw out strong opponents and fight them. You think I didn't notice?"
Shikamaru and the others stiffened and stared at Naruto in disbelief.
They couldn't imagine the old dead-last Naruto pulling off anything this calculated.
Seriously?!
Naruto felt a cold chill down his spine. He spun to Sakura and explained frantically, "It wasn't me! How could I possibly boss Sasuke around?"
"Then why did he move? Because you provoked him, right?" Sakura's brows shot up.
"Provoke my ass!" Naruto was genuinely frying. "You saw it—I didn't say a word to him the whole time!"
"Then what's his problem?"
"He's just not right in the head," Naruto muttered, tapping his own temple. Sasuke was frowning hard.
What are they whispering about now?
The black-haired Sound kunoichi—Kin—looked annoyed they were being ignored and tried to step forward again, but Dosu dragged her back, nodding toward the front.
"Wait."
BOOM!!
BOOM!!
A massive crash echoed from the front of the room, smoke billowing. Proctors marched in.
The leader was a huge man with a black headscarf, a scar running from his forehead protector down his neck.
"You've been waiting long enough…"
"My name is Morino Ibiki. I am the proctor for the First Stage of the Chunin Selection Exam."
Ibiki's presence was oppressive. Sweat broke out on the front rows. He raised a hand and pointed toward the corner.
"You three Sound genin, and the Konoha rookies—tighten up. One more stunt and I'll revoke your qualifications."
Naruto met Ibiki's gaze calmly. "Sorry. It's our first chunin exam. We got over-excited."
Inside he exhaled in relief. Good—first stage hadn't changed. But that transmigrator definitely noticed the deviations. From here, it was one step at a time.
Ibiki grunted and started laying out the rules.
"What now?" Sakura leaned close.
Naruto lowered his voice. "The transmigrator drew my doodle. That means they know the plot. If we just let them pass, it'll cause way too many variables later."
"So we should eliminate as many teams as we can. If we knock out their teammates, they get forced out with them."
Teams of three. All or nothing.
Sakura sighed quietly. "That won't be easy."
"Doesn't matter." Naruto listened as Ibiki finished the rules.
"…Now, take your number tags, sit according to your seats, and I'll explain the conditions…"
Everyone sat. Naruto ended up next to Hinata as expected.
So what do I do? Naruto inspected the room layout.
Stage one had two parts. Part one tested info-gathering—aka cheating. Part two tested mental fortitude.
Someone who knew the plot wasn't getting scared off by Ibiki's intimidation. The key was part one.
"One cheat = minus two points. Ten points lost = expelled."
Naruto chewed on that and formed a plan.
"Low-level cheating won't cut it. Proctors only accept high-grade methods. So I either disrupt cheating… or directly target the planted chunin with answers."
The papers went out. As the exam began, Naruto started with the simplest tactic.
He began coughing loudly every so often, and flipping his paper front-to-back so violently it sounded like a book.
Even though it was just one sheet, he made the noise of a whole textbook.
Rustle rustle rustle!
Cough cough cough!
Everyone nearby got annoyed and jittery. Some glared at Naruto—
…and immediately got noticed by the proctors who began scribbling marks.
In Naruto's old world, this was called the "exam cough guy" or the "page-flip menace."
Usually these were straight-A students. The loud flipping made slower test-takers panic.
Even realizing you needed to cheat took a moment of mental processing. By breaking their rhythm, Naruto delayed that realization and sped up the elimination of weak candidates.
The transmigrator might be fine turning in a blank sheet, but what about their teammates?
Naruto flipped and coughed, grinning internally. Sorry, I've actually survived high school.
Soon several people around him got nailed.
"Candidate 102, you're disqualified!"
"Candidates 23 and 34, five cheating violations. Disqualified!"
The pressure in the room spiked.
Alright, the low-skill trash around here should be mostly cleared out now, Naruto thought, calming his movements and scanning upward.
"Yep. Most good cheaters rig tools above the ceiling."
He spotted thin lines hooked to mirrors overhead so people could adjust angles and copy answers.
"Good thing I came prepared."
He pulled a tiny steel ball from his pocket, then lifted his left hand in a V-sign. Nine-Tails chakra stretched between his fingertips into a thin red line, like a chakra slingshot.
He couldn't turn his head, so he took off his forehead protector, set it on the desk as a mirror, adjusted the angle, loaded the ball, and snapped it upward.
Snap!
The steel ball severed a wire. The mirror above someone's head swayed and clattered.
A proctor looked up and immediately recorded it. The candidate panicked—
—and Naruto fired again, smashing the mirror so shards rained down.
"I—I'm leaving!" The candidate went pale and rushed out.
Other mirror cheaters instantly reeled their wires back.
Naruto noticed Tenten scrambling to pull hers back too. After a beat, he decided to switch methods.
The taijutsu squad weren't possessed; letting them pass was fine.
He moved on.
