Chapter 1 - Chained, Suppressed, Repressed

A man with grey hair threw a kid and spoke, "Get in the rat, and stay there."

A soft thud resounded as the kid was thrown and hit the wall. The kid, clearly not having enough strength to stand, looked at the man with a gaze that mixed confusion and anger.

"What is it you want from us, Uncle James?" The kid spoke with a soft tone, devoid of any understanding of what was happening.

The man called James speaks, "Well, it's simple, your father took something from me a long time ago and gained all these riches from it, and I simply want back Michell.

After a small pause, he continues, "I am positive he would have given it to you today on your birthday, so Michell, would you like to tell Uncle James where 'The Chronicles of Mist' is?"

A few knights walk in with a man and a woman in chains, embedded with a cold aura, and toss them to Michell, who is still lying against the wall for support.

James lets out a small pleased laugh as those two get brought in and lets out a small comment, "good to see you still show for your kid."

The man looks at James and shouts, "Brother, why do you do this? I have been kind to you my whole life, and this is how you repay me, taking my fortune. It's my life's work."

James, with a face full of anger, kicks the man in the stomach, and a small shine comes from the chain, and the woman winces almost like she was hit as well.

Michell looks at the man and speaks, "Uncle James, did you take something from him? Is that true?"

Michell's dad speaks, "That book was mine for the taking, you had no claim to it, James, it's not for the hand of someone who would harm their own flesh and blood, it would reject you, as it did to me."

James was stone faced during this whole exchange, gained a grin that spread from ear to ear, and spoke, barely able to hold his laughter back, "You really think I wouldn't know that, Noel? That's why I haven't killed you yet."

James pauses and snaps his fingers, and a few of the knights who were watching tied the chains of Noel and his wife to small metal hoops extruding from the wall, and yanking them closer to the wall of the room.

James then picks back up from where he was

"As I was saying, I already thought about that, to deal with that, I won't be the one killing you, it will be your son, and even if the book still rejects me, I will offer it to the goddess of water and construction, she was the one who gave the blessings that are on those chains."

Noel looks at his son and then back at his brother and mutters, "My son would never take my life, and as for the book, you will never find it only someone who can use it to its fullest will be able to find it."

James scoffed and grabbed his brother's face. "I will be the one to use that book while you rot deep in the dungeon that you built."

He throws his brother's head back and hits it against the wall. James turns and speaks, "You have until your son turns 10 years old to tell us, or he will suffer the same fate as you, chained like the mutt you become."

After that, James and his group of knights walk out, leaving the family to their new home for the foreseeable future.
