Chapter 13 - Resettling the Refugees — And Zayn’s Request

"We are willing to follow the Geo God!"

The humans knelt on the ground, shouting toward the sky where Morax hovered.

Morax briefly counted their numbers—there were more than two thousand of them.

And with winter already upon them, Liyue had neither the supplies nor the housing to accommodate this many newcomers.

But he could not abandon them.

If necessary, he could ask Zenos to manifest what was needed for them to survive the cold.

The refugees of the Sandstorm Demon God packed their belongings, carried what food they had left, gathered together, and followed Morax on foot toward Liyue.

To ensure these fragile humans could safely reach his domain, Morax personally escorted them.

Without him, any beast encounter would end in disaster.

A day passed.

Zayn sat comfortably in Liyue, yet Morax had still not returned.

But he was not worried at all—Morax was the strongest force in the region.

Unless several demon gods united to attack him, Morax would not fall.

And since this era was peaceful, no such alliance would form.

Zayn guessed easily:

Morax must've already killed the Sandstorm Demon God

—and was now escorting the survivors back to Liyue.

Humans were slow. With rest and sleep, the journey would take at least a week.

Sure enough, after about a week—

More than two thousand people arrived under Morax's guidance.

Liyue, however, had no room for them.

No one would build excessive homes for no reason.

Morax considered using his geo powers to construct stone houses for the newcomers…

but this would be unfair to the original residents.

Why should these outsiders receive homes personally built by a god

while the older residents still lived in thatched huts?

However, shelter was essential in the harsh winter.

Without housing, many would become ill—and with medicine undeveloped, even a simple cold could be fatal.

Zayn looked at Morax approaching his pavilion.

"Morax? Shouldn't you be settling those refugees? What are you doing here?"

Morax hesitated three seconds before speaking.

"To house two thousand people is troublesome. There aren't enough dwellings.

If they lack shelter, most may not survive the cold."

Zayn immediately understood his intention.

"So… you want me to handle the housing problem?"

Morax said, "If you are unwilling, I will not force you."

He knew he was asking for help.

Zayn smiled.

"They're part of Liyue now. Liyue's people are my people.

What kind of god would let my people freeze outside in winter?"

Since he had chosen to join Liyue, he accepted the responsibilities involved—

though he fully intended to slack off most of the time.

If he worked too hard now, he feared he would become like Zhongli later…

boring, serious, and broke.

So slacking early was a preventative measure.

Very reasonable.

After agreeing, Zayn walked before the refugees.

Seeing a handsome young man, the newcomers didn't realize he was a god—

until white light of manifestation flickered at his fingertips.

"Greetings, O God!"

They knelt immediately.

Zayn kept his expression completely neutral.

He was already used to scenes like this.

He nodded lightly, then began his work.

He pictured a simple thatched house that could shelter a family and provide decent insulation.

The first hut appeared out of thin air.

Then came the copy-and-paste process.

Zayn manifested hut after hut until there were enough for all two thousand refugees.

They stared, stunned—

watching a god conjure an entire settlement from nothing.

"Thank you, O God!" "We will never forget your grace!" "A true god shows mercy!"

Many were already crying.

Under the Sandstorm Demon God, they had felt no kindness—only torment.

This was the first time they experienced warmth from a divine being.

But… none of them even knew this god's name.

By the time they realized it, Zayn had already vanished—

having returned to Morax with a strict policy of never working overtime.

"Task perfectly completed," Zayn said smugly, patting his hands clean.

"Morax, shouldn't you express something?"

He blinked at Morax meaningfully.

Morax froze.

He truly had no idea what he was expected to express.

Gratitude? Or something else?

Zayn didn't wait.

"Teach me swordsmanship?"

That was his request.

Because… swords were simply cool.

Even if he never needed it.

If he met a strong enemy, he could still rely on Little Fireball Technique,

and if that failed—just throw a nuke.

Nukes were convenient. Not elemental at all—just "ordinary materials" arranged cleverly.

Sure, some materials didn't exist on Teyvat—

but Zayn was from Blue Star, and his manifestation authority came from Blue Star.

Knowing a bit of "Blue Star combat arts" was completely reasonable.
