Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

As the professor finished his introduction, the class simply fell quiet, as everyone was thinking to themselves,

Home teacher? That's weird.

The professor spoke up.

"So, I you bet you're wondering hearing it, since last year, to those of you that were in Rosewell, you had to choose subjects, and to those of you that weren't, well, you'll get the opportunity soon enough to choose the subjects.

"But I want to go over something that was said to all of you multiple times that I'm sure you weren't heard. And if you have any questions, just simply raise your hand. I will attend to you, and all you must do is stand up, say your name and the question you have. Please try to keep it brief. Okay?"

As one student from the far back raised their hand.

"Ah, yes. You."

The student simply stood up.

"Good morning, Professor. I'm Julie, and I have a question based on what exactly is what the system tracks?"

"Meaning?" the professor asked, folding his arms.

"What exactly is Kai?"

"Ah, interesting question. All right, you can take a seat now."

As the student sat back down, the professor turned his attention toward the class.

"Okay, students, let's go over the fundamentals first. So all of you know about the term Ki, the inner life force that exists in all living things, right?"

Most of the students nodded as Asur started to pay more careful attention than he did before.

"Well, Kai is an evolved form of Ki, specifically for the Venmen."

As the professor unfolded one arm and opened his whole hand, his arm began to be enveloped in a fiery-like state of power, a fiery-like state of energy that was transparent to the side.

"This is Kai."

As the professor folded his fist, the power began to gather simply. Then, as he fully extended his arm and unfurled his fist once more, a sudden rush of power came out in a direct beam.

"This is Kai, boys and girls. Kai is the evolved version of Ki. It explicitly is used by Venmen. But that doesn't mean Kai is the only state. It just means Kai is the most abundant of powers.

"You see, Venmen have an inner connection with Kai."

As the professor did that, he extended both of his arms. At the center, from a far distance, nearly at the center of his chest, Kai began to gather up.

"Every Venmen has an intrinsic connection to Kai."

And so with this, the professor extended his arm, lifting it into the air alongside the Kai ball, and was able to shape what Kai was able to look like to others.

As he did so, a bird of prey appeared, flying through the classroom.

"So, anything else?"

Some students were gobsmacked by seeing the massive shaping of Kai. Others whispered to themselves,

"So this is what Kai is."

And as the professor extended his arm, the bird landed there.

As more students raised their hands, the professor let out a tired sigh.

"Please, one at a time."

One student raised his hand even higher, pointing at it.

"Ah, yes. You."

The student stood up.

"Hi, sir, and fellow classmates. My name is Joshua, and sir, I wanted to know exactly, can all Venmen do that? And if so, which? How do you all even know which Venmen has an intrinsic connection to Kai?"

"Oh. So your question is basically asking about the Venmen classification."

"The Ven-what?"

The student looked in confusion.

"Okay. So, Venmen are a separate race that exists. But we are closer to both the mammals and the humans, just that we have something that the mammals don't.

"The mammals, like science has said, we have thumbs, lack of tails, and are able to stand upright, and our muscles are basically designed for efficiency rather than brute strength, same thing as the humans.

"But there's also a difference with us and the humans, is that we have abilities, and certain abilities have made it where multiple Venmen may share the same categorization, but not being the same type of Venmen.

"So, in other words, there's three primary Venmen examples."

As the bird of prey lifted up from the professor, it simply unfurled and changed its shape into a white circle that was separated into three smaller circles.

As the red circle became larger than the others, the professor continued.

"This represents the physical Venmen. These are Venmen who have more physical attributes: super strength, speed, and also some people may also categorize intelligence into this field, but that one is iffy at best.

"This is where most of the physically superior Venmen, like the vice principal, Mr. Kalgali, is. He's a physical Venmen that is so strong, he basically figured a way of how to lower his own sense of gravity, allowing him to fly, which, if most of you were awake during the opening speech, you would have seen it."

The professor, Professor Gengarian, glanced at the class.

Asu felt a little bit attacked, since he knew he was asleep.

And as the red circle simply shrank in size, the blue one appeared.

"This circle represents those that don't really have much of a physical attribute, but an intrinsic magical one. These are where most Venmen who are not physically gifted belong.

"This is the creative Venmen. These are Venmen whose powers simply act indiscriminately, things like your mages, your wizards, your warlocks, and your witches.

"For a simpler example, this is where Professor Minerva is. She is a creative Venmen, where she uses her ability to basically know much information just from your body language and expressions, and through her own intelligence, able to deduct what was going on."

Asu thought back to himself, remembering the first time he met Professor Minerva, when her eyes glowed and two more pairs of green eyes glowed, and when she was able to deduct it.

He said to himself quietly,

"So that's how she did it. That's how she knew about Charles."

And as the blue circle shrank in size, a yellow one increased in size.

"And this is the rarer type of the three. This belongs to the cream of the crop of Venmen, the special Venmen."

The professor continued.

"These are Venmen whose powers don't necessarily belong to neither physical nor creative, but let the word special suggest, their abilities are not as common.

"Just for example, Professor Branskin. He's a creative Venmen, but also carries special attributes, which, considering all of you saw, so how he just gathered a few particles of moisture and was able to blast that poor kid with a concentrated blast of water.

"That's what technically makes him a special-creative Venmen."

A student raised their hand.

"Professor Gengarri, I have something I would like for you to entertain."

"Yes, go ahead."

"So, what if a Venmen doesn't clearly fit into one Venmen classification? Like, I have a sibling. I have an older sibling who carries many, many physical traits, but from your example you just made, would clearly be much better recognized as a special Venmen than anything."

"Well, you see, although there are three primary examples of Venmen, there are subcategories of them. It's when Venmen don't necessarily have one full trait that identifies them, but two traits or more. They are what's known as an in-between Vinmen. Venmen whose traits don't belong to either one nor the other, but carry both traits.

"I go back to my example of ProfessorBranskin. You see, for one, the ability to control elements is primarily classified with creative Venmen, but the way Professor Branskin uses it is clearly of a special origin.

"So, most of you would think that he should be classified as a special, while some of you think he should be classified as a creative Venmen, but he's actually classified as a special Venmen, since he uses his intrinsic knowledge of the elements and his intrinsic instinct of the special side of him, which is how—"

The professor paused briefly.

"—which is how, even without being surrounded by much water, he's able to release a constrained blast of water."

And for example, as the professor brought his arms closer, the red and blue circles also began to shift closer.

By the time the professor's arms came together, the red and blue circles had overlapped.

As he stopped, they also stopped.

"You see, let's say one of you here was naturally gifted, like most Venmen, naturally gifted with the physical, but you have an intrinsic connection to a creative side of you. You would be classified as a creative physical, or a physical creative.

"You see that green shaded section over there? It is the part where you are. That Venmen that simply does not belong to one.

"The only difference between a creative physical and a physical creative Venmen is which side you choose to express."

And as the professor turned his fingers, the green section began to spread out and create many figures, eventually creating a mini human figure's anatomy.

As the mini figure's anatomy began to copy the professor's movements, he continued.

"You see, many Venmen with a creative expressions have an intrinsic natural expression."

As the professor clenched his fist, the mini figure threw a massive punch, releasing a few shockwave projections.

"You are just using your physical side in favor with your natural creative expressions.

"But the other can be too."

The little figure then turned into a wizard as it channeled green lightning.

"Although your creative side is more dominant, it still doesn't mean you are physically weak."

And as a truck hit the mini figure, the mini figure simply got back up.

"That is what makes you fall under those Venmen classifications. It's not just for the creative, no, physical. But all three Venmen classifications can overlap with each other.

"But there is no one Venmen that can truly possess all three primary classifications. Since their very nature itself would be strange, strange, and also there is no body, no matter how powerful it is, that can withstand just the sheer intensity that a special Vinmen has, or powers that a creative Venmen may use.

"And even if there was a body that was capable, it would simply just tear itself apart because of its own raw output that a physical Venmen can be.

"The best you're going to get is two attributes at most.

"If there is a Venmen that exists with all three attributes, there's a good chance they wouldn't make it all the way up to the age of five."

And as the class fell silent, Professor Kengari looked at the clock.

"Well, it's like we don't have much time left. So I'll just use this time to fill out my duties. When I call your name, come receive your timetable. Okay?"

The professor went down and took a seat, opening a drawer in his desk before beginning to call out names.

And as one by one, students went down to receive their timetables, Asu awaited his name to be called.

But it didn't.

"Okay, students, here's the deal. To those that got your timetable, you may leave to go to the piazza before lunch hour, or break, as I like to call it.

"And to those of you that didn't—"

Professor Gengarri simply threw papers into the air.

They flowed through the classroom before landing neatly on the students' desks.

"First, you're going to have to fill out what subjects you do, what subjects you would want to do, so that we can create a timetable for you.

"Oh, do note, be at school at seven. It starts at eight o'clock, like normal, and it ends around four."

Some of the students went crazy.

"That's madness. That's more than eight hours in here."

The professor simply raised his hands.

"I'm not done with my explanations, morons," he said to himself.

"Naturally, school usually ends around two for normal subjects. But since you are in a specialized school, we do have to nurture your wellness side as well.

"That's why you learn the following subjects: Venmen theory, theoryology, magical expressions, Venmen history.

"All of those are four subjects, each of them are 30 minutes. So, and this is a requirement for all students.

"You need to attend either three lessons at most, because this year it's different. Instead of you, as soon as you get your Venmen classification, being forced to attend one class, well, it will be different.

"As soon as you get your own Venmen classification, you can go to these other three classes, since there's a class focusing for physical Venmen, creative Venmen, and special Venmen.

"And then the last 30 minutes are the training, where some of you can put your lessons to the test.

"But if none of you want to do one particular class, it's fine. Then that just means you would clearly be allowed to go 30 minutes earlier.

"Now, to those students that haven't received the timetable, please

Asu searched himself and took out a pen from his blazer.

He began filling it in.

"Okay, English Home Language. I'm not that good at math, so just choose Mathematical Literacy. Life Orientation.

"What language should I learn? Which First Additional Language should I learn? I'm not that good. I'm good in Spanish, but not that good. French is also a no-go. So just choose Venklerk.

"Okay, now you're only allowed to choose four subjects here.

"Okay, History, Geography, Tourism. Yeah, that's it.

"And let me just choose all the extra subjects. That should be it."

"All right, are you all done?"

The students responded.

"Good."

The professor just pulled one finger of his, and from that, the subject-choice forms all returned to them.

He counted them.

"Twelve."

He nodded.

"All right, we should be done with your subject choices for your timetables either end of today or early morning tomorrow before we dish them out to you.

"But until then, find a classmate that does the same subjects as you and just follow their timetable, okay?

"Right, you're all dismissed."

And as the students all got up to leave, Asu simply went out the door.

A message from the system appeared.

[You have completed your first class.]

[You have two experience points.]

"Wait, what? I didn't even know this was a quest."

Asu shrugged.

"Oh well. Well, let me just find the cafeteria. I am starving."
