Chapter 1 - The Memory Begins

It felt only like yesterday, a memory that always resurfaces like Atlantis' in stories.

As darkness envelopes around ones soul.

The darkness becomes the remembrance of one's life.

Fear is always inevitable.

No matter the nature.

Fear is always there, deep within.

A flicker of light strengthed the looming darkness. A silhouette of a being not of this world lightened up.

And so... this long forgotten memory begins anew.

A young man in his 50's by mortal standards, watched as his world crumbles into ashes.

A wave of nausea hit him like a beast smacking him into a wall.

The feeling of throwing up.

The loneliness of managing to barely survive.

Survive.

His world once was a magnificent modern day society, fell into a state were 'dungeons' came to exist.

Only those who've gained 'sponsorships' by a contract between them and their deity of choice, could access these dungeons.

The man's silhouette looms as he picked up his badge, his prized dungeon association ranked EX. As a civil servant turned contractor, working days to make an ends meet by assessing a dungeons rank and participanting in dungeon raids, he wouldn't thought of something like this truly happening one more.

An pure colossal being roared fiercely.

It's screeching, ear shattering roar.

Carried across the worlds atmosphere.

It began its chaos. It's utter destruction.

A being that his gods couldn't defeat on their own merits, creating this 'contractual' system.

This man naturally was afraid.

His body trembling like a leaf.

His breathing hitched in fear.

["Is this how you'll end this world?"]

The breathing stopped only for a moment.

["Fear is natural. But. You've grown. You've completed tasks beyond your wildest dreams. You've achieved the goal you've wanted when you made a contract with me."]

...Hearing my voice, my praises. Still feels weird.

'I' stood alongside him.

'I' became his exclusive contract.

He lied as he spoke. ["I'll be fine."]

He changed the fate of his world.

The world only he and I know.

A world not remembered by gods.

Flames rose from the cities.

Mountains collapsing into the seas.

This world begs for salvation.

But 'salvation' didn't arrive the first time.

'Salvation' only came the second.

Jericho breathed in deeply, calming his nerves.

*This time... I will defeat the calamity!*

He grew under my guidance.

He knew the consequences.

Yet he survived. Conquered death.

His resilience teared through the screen.

An air of pride.

He stands on the brink of extinction.

His guild, his team, standing beside him.

It's either kill or be killed.

Nothing else matters now.

A smile creeps across my face, Jericho has always shown quite the heroism despite his lack of confidence.

But now? He became nothing more but a memory as my last guidance.

Though. You probably want to know more.

How he came to be the catalyst to a new world.

How he went from being weak to being stronger then gods themselves.

This... is his odyssey.

From his first death, to his rebirth.

A journey long forgotten by gods,

buried in time and space,

preserved by me.

His journey. My guidance. Our truth.

The memory begins now.

Will you, my dear overseer, watch along with me?
