Chapter 1 - ACT 1, SCENE 1 — Macbeth POV

The sky looked torn open, like someone ripped it with giant claws. Thunder slammed around me, lightning flashing too fast to even blink. The wind felt like it wanted to rip the world apart, and the ground shook beneath my boots.

Then… them.

Three witches. Not walking in. Not running. Just there—like the storm itself had vomited them onto the earth. Their clothes hung in tatters, hair wild and dripping, eyes that stared like they could see into your soul and twist it for fun.

The first one croaked, voice like gravel:"When shall we three meet again? In thunder, lightning, or in rain?"

The second one nodded, voice soft but eerie:"When the hurly-burly's done, when the battle's lost and won."

The third tilted her head, listening to something only she could hear:"That will be ere the set of sun."

My chest tightened. Somehow they knew about the battle. Before it even ended.

Then they whispered something in unison that sent chills down my spine:"Fair is foul, and foul is fair. Hover through the fog and filthy air."

What the hell does that even mean?

Lightning flared and for a moment, their faces were lit up. They smiled. Not a kind, friendly smile. A knowing, twisted smile that made my stomach turn into ice.

I tried to step back. My legs felt like they didn't belong to me anymore.

The first one's voice cut through the wind:"Lesser than Macbeth, and greater. Not so happy, yet much happier. Thou shalt get kings, though thou be none."

The third one hissed at Banquo, standing a few steps behind me.

Then the wind howled, lightning cracked, and just like that—they were gone. No footsteps. No sound. No shadows. Nothing but the storm fading behind them.

I was left standing in the middle of the heath, heart hammering, head spinning.

Who were they? Why did they know my name? And most importantly… what did they mean by:"All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Glamis! All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor! All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!"

I couldn't even answer. The words echoed in my head, louder than the thunder.

This was the start. The start of everything.
